| Elizabeth Wakefield, who was a sales executive at Varitronics went into Bert Wilkins' office. He had summoned for her, but she wasn't sure why. When she got in there, she noticed that a few of the other sales executives were called in there too. "Just a short meeting to tell you that you've been chosen as tour guides for when the executives and Vice-President come down from Vermont" Bert told them. Elizabeth glanced at A.J Morgan, her mentor and friend, smiling at him. "You'll be getting a bonus for doing this so make sure you show them around and make sure they have a good time! Meeting adjourned". Elizabeth walked out the door with A.J and her best friend, Maria Slater. "I can't believe this, we have enough work to do and now we have to show the Vermont freaks around the company" A.J grumbled "As if we don't have enough work to do". "Yeah, the Vice-President must be a snobby jerk, count me out for showing him around" Elizabeth added. Bert poked his head out of his office, requesting to speak to Elizabeth. "Liz, you, Maria and A.J have to meet them in front of the building tomorrow morning. And I need you to show the Vice-President to my office, personally" Bert told her. "Yes sir" Elizabeth replied, solemnly. Elizabeth walked back to the elevator when Bert finished talking to her. The next morning....A.J, Elizabeth and Maria stood in front of the Varitronics building, waiting for the Executives to arrive. Elizabeth was talking to A.J with her back turned when she felt a light slap on her behind. She shrieked and whirled around to see Todd Wilkins, her best friend and high school sweetheart standing behind her grinning from ear to ear. "Todd" she cried, hugging him tightly. "Hey Liz, how are you?' Todd exclaimed, twirling her around in a circle. "Great, what are you doing here?" Elizabeth asked, curiously. "Dad didn't tell you?" Todd queried, his eyebrows raised. "I'm the Vice-president from Vermont". Elizabeth blushed bright red, remembering what she had said about him. A.J started to laugh. Todd glanced from Elizabeth to A.J and back to Elizabeth confused. "What's so funny?" "Nothing, just something Liz was saying before" A.J Spluttered. "A.J" Elizabeth said, pointedly. She glared at him before turning back to smile sweetly at Todd. Todd nodded. "Anyway, I want to introduce you to the other executives" Todd told them. They followed Todd over to the group of people in business suits. Elizabeth admired how sexy Todd looked in his suit and tie. He was still handsome as he was when Elizabeth had a fling with him at the end of her senior year at Sweet Valley University. Before she moved to New York. Now she was back, and Todd was now in Vermont. "So near yet so far" Elizabeth sighed sadly. |
