Chapter 18
Suspicions
That day, Harry could see that Ron was clearly avoiding him. In the afternoon during Divination, instead of sitting next to Harry and cracking jokes about Professor Trewlaney, Ron sat at the opposite side of the room next to Seamus. As the other students were studying their horoscopes in relation to the position of the moon, Harry kept glancing over to see if Rons mood had changed. Rons face looked hard as a stone and as far as Harry could tell, he hadnt smiled the whole morning. Suddenly, Harry heard a loud clap right next to his face. Startled by the noise, he jumped in his seat. Professor Trewlaney was standing there looking a tad bothered.
Mr. Potter, youve been sitting there for ten minutes just staring into space, she said irritably. Finish your horoscope before I give you a zero for the day, she announced before moving on to the other side of the room. Harry looked at the blank paper in front of him. This is such crap, he thought bitterly to himself. He began to scribble down the first thing that popped into his head.
This month, you will experience many changes with your social status. Many of your old friends will begin to change, and some may become more than friends. A close friend will be very angry with you at some point, but in time he will get over it and just face facts. You know hes very immature and he cant help the way he acts, but sometimes he just
Harry crumpled up his paper and tossed it into the wastebasket. Sighing heavily, he took out another leaf of parchment and stared at it, hoping for ideas to come.
Having any difficulties, Mr. Potter? Professor Trewlaney questioned sarcastically.
Erm. No, Harry said irately.
I dont like the karma that youre giving off. Are you having any problems in your life at the moment? she asked, peering at him behind her thick glasses.
None that I want to talk about, Harry said, beginning to get very annoyed now. Professor Trewlaney, seeming a bit shocked, narrowed her eyes at him.
Your bad attitude, I think, is affecting your classmates ability to work, she said angrily. Would you like to leave? The whole class was staring at Harry now, waiting to see what would happen.
May I really? Harry asked with extreme sarcasm. Professor Trewlaneys mouth opened and she gasped loudly.
Mr. Potter! I will not tolerate this level of disrespect in my classroom! she screeched angrily. Take your chair and go sit outside for the rest of the class immediately! Harry stood up, picking up his chair. He started walking past the other students, hearing them snigger loudly. He walked through the exit, slamming the door behind him. He set his chair outside of the door and sat down, arms crossed, staring at the wall angrily. He leaned his head against the wall, yawning widely. This is the last year Im taking Divination, he thought to himself as he closed his eyes.
Harry was lying against the wall for quite some time when suddenly he heard his name. He opened his eyes groggily.
Harry, come with me, quickly! said a voice. Harry blinked and saw Mrs. Figg standing in front of him. He stood up, and she grabbed his arm.
Why? Harry asked, as Mrs. Figg started leading him down the hallway.
Youll see in a minute, she said, tightening her grip on his arm. Harry tagged along lethargically as she practically dragged him behind her.
Look, Mrs. Figg, Harry began, You really dont need to drag me, Im capable of following y
Hush! Mrs. Figg hissed angrily. Surprised, Harry closed his mouth and just followed her. Suddenly, Harry heard quick footsteps behind him.
Arabella, wait! yelled the cold voice from behind him. Mrs. Figg stopped and turned around. Harry also turned around, and the sight behind him made his stomach drop.
