| Chapter 13 - The Teachers in Question Continued |
| After they finished breakfast, the three headed off towards Defense Against the Dark Arts. As they entered the classroom, Mrs. Figg looked up at them from her desk. She smiled at them, but then gave Harry a stern look. Confused, Harry sat down in his seat next to Ron, nudging him lightly. Ron looked at him oddly. "What is it?" he asked quietly. Harry noticed that Mrs. Figg was still staring at him. "D'you see the way she's looking at me?" Harry whispered. "Who?" Ron asked. "Mrs. Figg," Harry said. "She looks a bit angry." "I wonder why?" Ron questioned. As the other students settled in their seats, Mrs. Figg stood up. "Today you will be writing two sheets of parchment on the differences between the Flippendo Spell and the Mobilirus Spell," she said. "I will be collecting them at the end of the class." The students groaned, and began taking out their sheets of parchment. Harry was just opening his bag when Mrs. Figg walked up to him. Not you, Mr. Potter, she said firmly. I need to have a word with you. Come with me please. She began to walk out of the door. Harry looked at his friends, who shrugged at him quizzically. Harry stood up and followed her through the hallways into her office. She sat down in a large, padded chair and gestured to a chair facing her. Take a seat, please, she said. Harry nervously sat down. Is there something wrong, Professor Figg? he asked. Im afraid so, Harry. I was speaking with Professor Snape earlier today, and he told me that there was some sort of break in at his office, Mrs. Figg began. He also mentioned that he thought that somehow you were involved. Do you know anything about this? Mrs. Figg stared at Harry. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat. Uh, no, not that I know of, he lied. She stared at him questionably, and then continued to speak. He also told me that when he entered his office, some of his belongings were left astray. He also found something on his desk next to his disheveled possessions. Do you know what Professor Snape found there? Mrs. Figg asked. No, maam, Harry said uneasily. He found your wand laying next to the pile of I mean his things, she told him. But then he was distracted by something, which caused him to leave his office. But when he came back, the wand was gone. Do you have any idea how this happened? Her eyes pierced his. No, Im sorry m-maam, I I dont know what happened, he stuttered. She looked at him doubtingly. Well, alright Harry. But I just wanted to remind you that any student found out of bed will be punished severely, she said. It would be wise for all students to stay inside their houses after 10:30. Do you agree? Yes, maam, Harry said. Ok, then, Im glad we are at an understanding, she said. You wouldnt want to lose house points over something like that, now would you? No maam, he said. Good. Now, off to class, she said agreeably. Although he was extremely confused, he did what he was told. He entered the class and sat down next to Ron. He looked over at Hermione, who mouthed the words What happened? to him. Harry shrugged at her, and then turned over to Ron. What did she say? he whispered, as Mrs. Figg entered the room. Ill tell you after class, Harry said quickly. He started to write his paper, but Mrs. Figg stopped him. That wont be necessary, she said. Class is almost finished. She walked back to her desk, and sat down. Harry looked around at the other students doing their work. Why did she want to talk to me about that, he questioned. Harry wondered if Mrs. Figg was working with Snape and the Death Eaters. Maybe was she really on Voldemorts side. But why would she have watched over him so many years? If she were in Voldemorts league, then wouldnt she have killed him right away? Harry couldnt understand how she could be working with Voldemort. However, he had little time to ponder this, as Mrs. Figg stood up and cleared her voice. Alright, students. Class is just about over. Who has completed their assignment? she asked. Hermione was the only one who raised her hand. Mrs. Figg smiled. Alright then, Miss Granger, you may hand in the assignment for extra credit. Everyone else may finish tomorrow. Hermione walked up to the desk and handed in her finished paper. Blushing deeply, she walked back up to her seat and collected her books. The rest of the students packed up and hurried out the door. Harry and Ron waited outside for Hermione. When she came out, she rushed over. |
