| My Review of the Harry Potter and the Scorcerer's Stone DVD |
| I thought pretty much the same thing about the movie as the second and third time I saw it (the first time I was too entranced so I didn't really pay attention). Except, in my opinion, the movie wqas better on the big screen, excluding Quidditch which looked extrordinarily better on my TV. You can also really see timing errors in the dialog, particularly with Ron, However, the scene in which Hermione shows Harry the Quidditch trophy is extremely clear. And yes, the other name on it it M.G. McGonagal(I;m not sure on the secong initial though). Hmmm.... possible plot line??? The second disc was a major disappointment to me. I can't believe the two discs only cost the price of one, so I'm gladd I didn't pay $25 for two. I wouldn't have. The special features are not "hours of fun" as advertised by WB (honestly Warner Bros. get new PR people who are actually believably, it will help a lot). The tour of Hogwarts was ok except for the way it's filmed. The view in the center of the screen is clear, but the sides are blurry. Personally, I it gave me a horrible headache, so I had to turn it off. Also, the DVDROM features are a huge disappointment if you don't have a microphone for your computer, which you need or it won't work at all. The interviews with Chris Columbus (who is an idiot for not staying fr the rest of the films), the producer, set designer, and the screenplay person were the highlight of this disc for me. They also tell you some no-so-valuable information about Chamber os Secrets, but withou the rumored anticipated trailer. For true Potter fans, this DVD will present delight. Not that I'm not a true fan, it's just that I thought WB could have done better with the special features, like the seven deleted scenes, there has to be more that that. Chris Columbus said himself he wanted to incorperate the scenes back into the moie for the DVD, but WB wouldn't let him. I enjoyed the movie the first time I saw it and the fourth(which was when I first got the DVD, but (by total number of times I've seen it) the fifth time, it had lost it's magic somewhat. Harry, you need to refuel, possibly with book 5 soon??? I hope no one (especialy WB execs) was or is offended by this review. I love HP and the books still, I'm just dissapointed with WB. Thank you fro reading and enjoy Harry Potter and the Scorcerer's Stone on DVD/VHS. |
