Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban                             review
What a lovely movie. Visually stunning and superbly acted. PoA isn't the best of the films, but it could have been worse.
The new director is easy to see. The camera is used in a very different way from the first two, but it flows so naturaly. The colors are vibrant and deep. This looks nothing like the films of old. It is darker, but in a good way. The acting reflects that.
Daniel Radcliffe is magnificent with this role. His angst seem genuine, not fake as some actors try to do. You can seem his conflictions and his pain. He is truely a gifted actor and I am soooo looking forward to see whathe does post-Potter.
Emma Watson is, as always, brilliant as Hermione. She gives her character more depth that we've seen, You see her coming out of her shell, and no longer hiding behind her beloved books. Watson will has a lucritive film career after Potter, I have no doubt about that.
Rupert Grint is hilarious. His comedc timing is something to be marvaled at. He will be a hilarious actor in the years to come. His fights with Hermione seem real and believable.
Some say that it seems Hermione likes Harry, not Ron, because she hugs and holds Harry's hand throughout the film. Well, most of the hand holding is either Harry or Hermione pulling the other one out of danger or where they need to be. Being a girl I can tell you that girls hug their guy friends because both know neither likes the other. You don't hug the guys you like because that woul be a dead giveaway.
I absolutely adored Lupin in the film, He is the type of teacher one always wants. Caring and conciderate, he seems genuinely concerned with the welfare of his students, which is missing in today's educational system.
Alfonso Cauron did a masterful job of direction. With the exception of DEMENTORS DO NOT FLY!!!,  everything was brilliant.
The same cannot be said for the writing of the film. Steve Kloves really disapointed me this time. The Quidditch Cup was not even included, and the Firebolt was plucked at the end, like he forgot it and just threw it in there. There wasn't even any mention of WHO sent the darn broom! No mention of Harry's father choosing a stag as what he turned into, and no mention of who the mauraders were.
Also, the pacing was bothersome. The beginning went very fast, and the rest of the movie was at the same pace. No holidays were celebrated, only 3 of their classes were shown, and hardly any of the staff.
Overall, I give the film a B, possibly B-. The writting was sooo much better in the first two, but the visual-ness(yes, I made up a word HA! lol) of this film was far better than it's predecesors.
