Chapter Two: Wedding

Nymphadora Tonks awoke the biggest morning of her life with an air of extreme anticipation about her. A girlish giggle, which had, up until then served as a reminder of the fact that she was still very much impressionable, erupted from her throat as she remembered a night, one and a half years ago, when the man she loved with all her heart proposed to her. A sigh escaped her as she remembered, all to well, that it was time to act upon her primal instincts and head to where the wedding was to be held.

She got up just in time to see Hermione Granger-Weasley, the now married matriarch-in-waiting of the family. Sighing, she looked at the bulge in the middle of Hermione's stomach and giggled as Hermione ran her hand over the sensative area.

"Wotcher Hermione!"

"Hey Tonks, you need to get ready. I've read in "Wedding Rituals, What to Do Occurs During a Traditional Wedding!" and it says the bride and her matron-of-honor has to be at the wedding house early to do all the wedding spells! I mean sure, we had a traditional muggle wedding, but this is the Potter family your marrying into, and as such from what I've read in, "HigherStandards of the Pureblood House Wedding Rituals" you have to be ready so they can preform the binding spells!"

Tonks laughed. "Wotcher Hermione, breathe alright. I know. I read the book too, I know that as soon as I marry Harry, I'll be the matriarch of the family and all that. I know that I've got a duty to my husband but, you forget we're not having a traditonal wedding, either!"

Hermione blushed and nodded before she sighed and said, "yeah, it's just that, Harry's alwaysbeen alone, I just want, for once, something in his life to go right. I truly believe that it's everything he's ever wanted, Tonks. I just... I guess I want you to be sure too."

The bride-to-be smiled at the girl and nodded before wrapping her into a huge hug and said, "It's alright. I understand and I appreciate it. I love him, Hermione, as much as you love Ron and as much as Severus loves Minerva."

Hermione rubbed her stomach once again and smiled before nodding. She sighed as the baby kicked. Smiling, they both stood up. Pulling a rope, Tonks tied one end to Hermione's waist and the other she held firmly in her hand. A jerk at the naval, and they were at the place of the wedding.

As they began preparing for the wedding, Harry and Ron were just now getting up. The future of the Weasley family, producing the only boy heir so far in the lineage as far as the doctors at St. Mungos could tell, was just now stirring. He looked over at his bespectacled best friend and future head of the Potter family. The day was, in Ron's opinion, the most anticipated day in the entire recent history of the Wizarding World. Ron laughed as he remembered that the last day that gave them so much grief was the day that Professor Dumbledore got married. It was right after his defeat of Grindelwald and he married his Hogwarts Sweetheart. Harry's wedding was, as he had heard, on par with it.

He silently shook Harry awake, dousing him with water when the other man objected with a few choice words. As the husband-to-be stirred in bed, his best-man smirked triumphantly. "So, mate, are you ready for the big day?"

Harry glared at the man, unsure of what to say. "What the bugger do you mean, Ron? Of course I'm ready. Did you think I'd say, "hell no, I'm scared shitless!"

Ron chuckled as he remembered being in this exact situation when he and Hermione got married, and nodded. Harry chuckled. "Well, I am. I'm scared beyond belief. Not because I think she'll say no, but because I'm... shocked that she'd say yes. I love her, I know i do. I can't imagine my life without Nymphadora."

Ron snickered, "I still can't believe you're marrying someone named Nymphadora!

Harry glared, "Well, if I remember correctly, you got offended when Fred and George said, "So, are you sure it's not Hermy-own-ninny?"

Ron sputtered at the offending name, indignant on his wifes behalf as they stood and opened the door to reveal the scenery of where the wedding would take place. As Harry and Ron stood shocked at the cruiseliner that was wading in the bay, Ron gave a soft wolf-whistle.

At the offended look, the person formerly known as the "boy-who-lived" grinned and walked over to his best mate and said, "so, give them an hour to get ready before we storm the place?"

Ron grinned and shook his head. "Nope, we go now. I want to make sure we make an entrance. Plus, if we don't go now, you never know which of your groupies will attack and kiss you all over the face. So, I would suggest we go now, unless you really don't want to, mate?"

Faced with the prospect of facing the love of his life before the wedding, Harry jumped up and said, "well, what are you waiting your red hair for? Get up!"

Ron grinned and said, "well, if you're sure, mate. I mean, we could always just... I don't knokw... er... or we can go now?"

Harry grinned and nodded before disappearing with a loud pop!

As they appeared in the unused room, Ron flicked his wand and locked the door to the family sweet giving off a blue hue to let those know that it was occupied. Harry, on the other hand, was tripping over his own two feet more or less on and off for the past few minutes. You could tell he was nervous, as his hair went through like ten colors every five seconds. Ron laughed, "buck up there, mate! It's not so bad, especially afterwards! By the way, you never have told anyone where the Honeymoon was! Where you going mate?"

Harry stuck out his tongue and said, "Can't tell you that, mate. I want my wife to be the first to even know."

Ron grinned and they set out to get dressed.

The room was set. The edge of the cruiseliner, formerly a pale grey that contrasted perfectly with the ocean they were now sailing on. Probably the most refreshing, and in the opinion of those in attendance, the most significant part of the wedding, the presiding nuptial provider, the sea captain Alastor Moody, was grinning from ear to ear. As the duo stood hand in hand, Moody let off a bang.

"There comes a time when the captian of a vessel gets to do the most precious of duties. I am happy to say that such a time has finally come for this old man. When I first met little Nymphadora Tonks, she was a rookie under my guidance at the Ministry of Magic. She was a clumsy girl just out of Hogwarts, who looked like the world at peace was a boring place. She, in my opinion, was the best thing to happen at the Ministry in a long time.

Harry Potter, on the other hand, I met just before his fifth year at Hogwarts. Like the predecessor, I too saw something in Harry Potter that told me he'd do great things. Many don't realize how right we were. A few years later, he defeated the worst Dark Lord in a century, with the woman now at his side, accompanying that exact position.

They now stand before you, friends and family, preparing to dedicate their lives to the other. Do you both understand that these are, unlike in the muggle world, unable to be broken but by Death? Do you understand the ceremony you are about to undertake will mean that you are to remain true to the other? Will you both swear to practice Constant Vigilence with the other at all times, defending your other and at the same time swearing to love, honor and cherish life as long as you have breath?"

He looked at Harry, who turned to Tonks. "I swear by my heart, my soul and my very magic."

Alastor smiled. "And you Nymphadora?"

She cringed at the use of her given name but in the spirit of the ceremony said, "I also swear by my heart, my soul and my very magic."

Alastor sniffled, something that came out as a snort. "I understand you have written your vows according to tradition of the magical world? Nymphadora, I will now request you recite your vows to Harry."

She sighed and said, "Since I met that... black haired, green eyed, bespectacled boy just before his horrendus fifth year at Hogwarts, I was enamored at his life. Growing up as I have learned you did, I was scared that you would take the skills you learned from those around you and go darker than even Voldemort. But... you didn't. You moved forward in the face of adversity.

Then, when I learned that not only did you love, you loved with an open heart. You taught me, a new auror a few new lessons and did it happily. I knew that I loved you, Harry, when we were learning about a few of your skills, because did you never actually ask me to use my talents for anyting other to see your mother's face but, after words, you apologized profusely.

When I understand all the things that you've been through for strangers, I see myself beside you helping do those things. I ask you, therefore, to accept me as your wife. Esse mei."

Moody smirked this time. "As so heard, now so extended. Mr. Potter, please present your wife with her vows."

Harry took a deep breath and said, "My wonderful, talented, and wise Nymphadora. It could be said, in all honesty, that you are the most beautiful of women and never have to flinch because, of abilities, it is true. Men, and among them those I consider family, would see someone such as yourself a treasure to mankind. But, sharing in those abilities, I see you for yourself. I see a woman that is, was and will forever be my life. I see you, not as the metamorphmagus, but I see you as the loving, vibrant woman that has faced diversity and lived.

In total honesty, sometimes I don't feel worthy of you, because you are both beautiful and vibrant. My past, all of which is and will forever be open to you, drilled into me from an early age I was not worthy of the love you've given me. But... you gave it to me anyway. When I first proposed, I was so sure that you would say "no, I can't. It's been fun" but you didn't. You again surprised me, by saying yes. Now, I can truthfully say that the feelings of unworthiness have passed and I fully embrace that which you want to give me, freely. I ask you to be my wife, Nymphadora, and accept me as your husband. Esse Mei."

As they clasped hands, their magic swirled around them, the veil lifted off of her face. Just as Moody said, "so received, so witnessed, so mote it be. I pronounce you husband and wife.",Harry and Tonks kissed, filling it with all the passion contained within their two bodies. The amount of magical backlash from this one session, was one that most of those in attendance stood in awe.

As he picked his bride up, the tradition of throwing rice to send them off down the isle picked up. Harry and his new bride kissed one last time before they passed the threshold.
