January 2007
This is our twelveth year breeding and raising rabbits. We are all done with shows and pedigreed stock. We have two Mini Rex as pets and we breed them to sell the young ones as pets. We still build hutches and sell them to whomever wants them. Right now we have the same male Mini Rex and a doe that was givin to us. We have bred them and we now have 5 little bunnies. The best part about the babies is that they are a mixture of colors because the dad and mother are different colors.

We are cutting back in this area also. Just too many things going on to continue as we were.

Chickens
We are down to laying hens and a few roosters. We tried some bantam game birds but the raccoons cleaned them out. Brian had won a pair of bantam birds which he gave to Tony. Those two are the only bantams left. We are sticking with egg layers and will be cutting down on the number of them in the future. With the way the State is tracking things, we are not showing at all and that is alright with us.
What about the goats?
We have been without goats for two years. The toggs broke out and ate a nieghbor's tree. So the goats were sold to pay for it. But this last spring the boys were each given a Oberhasli buck kid. And we are taking care of our neighbor Liz's goat, "Maple". Then in the summer Dolores was given a Obi doe kid that was a runt and headed to the auction. So we now have four goats again. The bucks were wethered and we are not planning to breed the does. Four goat seem happy here, it was only when there were more that the trouble began. We have registered our herd name as Morgan Pastures. This was because of the family roots in Morgan, Wisconsin.
Thank You !!!!!!
This thank you goes right back to me. I am thanking myself for finally simplifying the BS that was going on with the fairs. I finally had enough of it and am done. I also want to thank Brian who is taking over this now. So it might actually get updated more than once every three years!

What's next?
Well, the fence still rates high on the list of things to do. We are now replacing the field fence with stock panels. The chicken coop has been divided in order to raise the meat birds in there instead of in the barn. We will be trying a lamb we are buying butchered from our neighbor, If the family likes the meat, we might be trying a couple of them. But they will never become sheep! They will get just big enough to go in the freezer.
What's new?
Sports! Brian has been playing football and is now into wrestling. Tony has done cross country and may do it again. The boys got a weight bench for Christmas and are woring on strenght training now. I also put up a heavy bag and put a beating on it a couple of times each week. I am hoping that both boys actually workout this summer rather than sit around and wait for practice to begin before starting on conditioning. But it is their sweat, more now and less later or just a whole lot of sweat later! It is their choice.
