Tips on care of your new rabbit
Feeding Do's and Don'ts
Do feed rabbit pellet type food.
Do feed once daily, at about the same time.
Do feed 3-5 ounces of pellets daily. Check feed bag for their recommendations.
Do feed less if you find some feed left over.
Do feed a handful of alfalfa to nibble on.
Do feed slightly more in winter and less in summer if outdoors.
Do provide fresh, clean water for your rabbit.
Do Not give greens to a rabbit under 6 months old. This has killed many bunnies!!!!!!
Do Not feed cabbage or lettuce. Cabbage is too gassy, lettuce too watery.
Do Not overfeed rabbits! They don't need food in front of them all day long.

Housing
Check that your rabbit has shade in the summer.
Check that your rabbit is protected from the wind in the winter.
Check that your rabbit is able to stay dry in the rain.
Check that there is ample ventilation.
Consider house training your rabbit. They can be taught to use a litterbox.
Don't worry about your rabbit being outdoors in the winter. Move it into a garage in extreme cold.

Tid Bits
If a rabbit is not eating, check the water first. A rabbit won't eat without water to drink.
Then try feeding a bit of bread or Quaker Oatmeal.
Rabbits need something to chew on to keep their teeth at their proper length.
A 1 inch chunk of 2x4 or piece of applewood. No pressure treated wood!
Rabbit droppings are exellent fertilizer. They won't burn tender plants.
Many consider it to be the ultimate rose food!
The bottom of a 2 liter soda bottle works great as a winter water dish, as it will not crack
from the cold, or banging on a hard surface to break out the ice.
Freeze a plastic soda bottle of water and place it with the rabbit on the hottest days of the year.
Get a good book about rabbits and read it over and over.
Consider joining the American Rabbit Breeders Assn. They provide an amazing amount of
information and resources, such as their Official Guidebook To Caring For Your Rabbits.
This is just one of the books they provide free to new members.
