1. Read
the online version of the Release Notes for any late-breaking information
or updates. For more information, see http://www.macromedia.com/go/proddoc_releasenotes.
2. Make sure that your operating system meets the system
requirements described in System requirements for Windows.
3. Review the Installation considerations.
4. Close any applications that are currently running on your
computer.
5. Insert the CD-ROM, or download the setup file for your
locale from the Macromedia website.
6. If you are installing from a network or a downloaded file,
locate the coldfusionmx executable file for your locale (for example, coldfusionmx-win-us.exe
file), and double-click it.
The installation wizard starts.
7. Follow the instructions in the wizard, and let it run
to completion.
After the Pre-Installation Summary pane, the files are copied to your computer.
After the installation is complete, the ColdFusion Administrator opens.
8. If you have an existing ColdFusion 5 installation, you
are prompted to migrate your ColdFusion 5 settings to ColdFusion MX. If you
do not want to migrate now, click Skip. To migrate later:
a. Close the ColdFusion Administrator, if it is not
already closed.
b. Change the value of the following registry key from
0 to 1:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\Install Data\ColdFusionMX\migrate
c. Restart the ColdFusion Administrator from the Windows
Start menu.
You are prompted again to migrate your ColdFusion 5 settings.
Caution:If you migrate your ColdFusion 5 settings later, you might overwrite
new ColdFusion MX settings.

than English, follow the instructions in Installing Verity Locales.
2. Configure and manage your system, as described in
Configuring your System.
