| Now, this is most definately my favorite season. It has the best balance of laughs and heartfelt moments, and it contains why I like to call "the hook," or the moment that got me addicted to the show. There are a couple of major additions, and one confusing subtraction from the cast. That subtraction is the sudden disappearance of Mr. Turner. Last we heard, he was in a motorcycle accident and in the hospital in "Cult Fiction." At the end, he showed signs of life, leaving us as the viewers to believe that he would be okay. But he was never heard from again, until a one-line, off-the-cuff reference in the season finale. Spooky. Anyways, the majors additions both effect Shawn. The first the the addition of a serious girlfriend for Shawn in the form of the ever-spunky Angela. This is the first shot of giving Shawn a serious girlfriend since Dana Pruitt took the Turner road and mysteriously disappeared (Although she does pop up this year in "First Girlfriends' Club", and I must say it worked. Their relationship is quite believable. The other addition is Jack Hunter, Shawn's secret half-brother. He now goes to Pennbrook, and he and Shawn reconnect. Despite some ruffles, Shawn and Jack work out their differences (with some help from their father) and end up living together in an apartment. Eric is also with them, and he serves as Jack's best friend. He's a Cory for Jack. Finally, my hook. After kissing another girl in "Heartbreak Cory," Topanga essentially dumps Cory. Cory is miserable, making the plot of him drinking (Disney wouldn't want you to know!) much more believable in "If You Can't Be With the One You Love..." Inevitably, the get back together (In "Starry Night") and discuss sex at prom (Another Disney secret) in "Prom-ises, Prom-ises." And Topanga gets accepted to Yale, not Pennbrook as Cory planned. And she proposes to Cory in the final ten seconds of the seasons. HAH! Makes you wanna skip on ahead to season 6, huh? Don't because this season's better. Best Season episodes: "And Then There Was Shawn," "The Witches of Pennbrook," and "Eric Hollywood" which many argue is the best episode in the show's run. |
