Options are kept open as the individual is willing to take some responsibility. Discipline focuses on Restitution and learning a better way. Discipline is nurturing and caring. |
| Punishment Punishment is usualy based on personal authority and artbitrary power. Punishment is too severe Punishment reinforces failure.The individual has no option. Punishment focuses on guilt, shame, blame, and fault. Punishment is meted out in the spirit of anger Any one of those can make a situation punishment - oriented rather than discipline - oriented |
