Surprise!
The Stabbing Oysters decided to go back to the charred remains that was once their clubhouse. Maybe they could find an answer to why Manello was fooling around with them.
Suspicion would have been aroused if anyone saw four men with trench coats and fedoras walking down the street, so they took their separate ways. Mario walked by the Sears Tower down North La Salle Street, Vanelli took the subway to the James R. Thompson Center and walked from there. Tony walked down Michigan Avenue and then turned and walked west at Wacker.
They all meet at the hideout. They all looked at the hole that was blown in the wall from the bomb that someone threw in through the air vent.
Vanelli called everyone over. He said he found a huge clue. On the wall were the bar once was, was a huge spray painted logo of the Armed Ambush, a coyote with a fedora.
"That's all fine and nice, but we already knew that they did this," Godfrey commented, slamming Vanelli's discovery.
"This is back up evidence though," Tony retorted.
"I guess."
"Now we know they did it," Mario commented. "Look it's dark, maybe we should go home for the day and clear our minds." It was true. It was around ten o' clock and it had been dark for some time now. They all once again went their separate ways to their apartments and slept long into the next day.
The Meeting
"Tony! Tony! Get up!" Vanelli screamed knocking at the door of Tony's apartment, Godfrey and Mario standing behind him marveling at his stupidity.
Tony crawled out of bed and got the door, just noticing he was only wearing his underwear.
"Tony get dressed quick, you won't believe it!" Vanelli shouted. Tony ran to his room and quickly got dressed. He sensed danger and decided to wear a bullet-proof vest under his clothes. On the way out of his apartment, he put on his fedora and trenchcoat and then locked the door. He started to talk with them as soon as they were outside.
"So what's the big news?"
"Happy New Year, Tony! The Armed Ambush hammered a note on my apartment door inviting us to our clubhouse at eleven thirty tonight!" Vanelli shouted.
"What? Why?"
"I don't know!" Mario and Godfrey stood there not saying anything. "We should all stay together until then, I still have the gun from before."
"What time is it now?"
"Ten o' clock p.m.!"
"Ten o' clock? I slept that long?"
"Yes, you did," Mario, Godfrey, and Vanelli replied in unison. "It's about a half hour walk from here," Mario informed.
"Let's go out to dinner. We can discuss the situation there," Godfrey said plucking his fake moustache. Everyone agreed. They came to a restaurant that was called, "Ed Debevic's." They walked into the restaurant and found it to be a fifty's nostalgia cafe.
"Welcome to Ed Debevic's," a jolly hostess in a puffy, red dress and white blouse said. "It's the year 2003 everywhere except for Ed's! Here it's 1959 all over again!" She showed them to their seats.
"This isn't what I had in mind," Godfrey choked.
"Hello!" the waiter said approaching them, "I'm Archie! I'll be your server and entertainer today!" The Stabbing Oysters just ordered their meals and avoided having any fun at all. They ate in silence because this was not a place to discuss the Armed Ambush.
When they finished their meals, they walked, disgusted, out of the cafe without paying. The door hostess approached them outside.
"Excuse me, you didn't pay."
"Get out of here or I'll blow your head off," Vanelli threatened. She screamed at the top of her lungs.
"Ha! Ha! Ha! Vanelli you kill me!" Tony said pretending to laugh. He payed the bill and then walked off to join the others. When she was gone he hissed at Vanelli, "What is wrong with you? We could have been arrested!" Vanelli shrugged his shoulders.
They walked down the road until they came to an enormous building called Merchandise Mart. It was a huge 1940's style building. As soon as the building was behind them, they could see their hideout to their left.
"What time is it?" Tony asked.
"Eleven twenty-nine"
They arrived at the hideout at exactly eleven thirty. They looked into the charred remains, and out came the Armed Ambush and Nuniez. Tony shivered from either the cold December thirty-first weather or fear.
"We've been expecting you," Nuniez said.
"Duh!" Godfrey choked dryly.
"That little comment just cost you your lives!" The Armed Ambush looked at Godfrey dangerously.
"Do you still have that gun Vanelli?" Mario asked.
"Yes," he said quietly. His voice suddenly grew louder as he said, "unfortunately for you," he said pulling the gun from his pocket. He pointed it at Nuniez, but then turned around a pointed it a Tony!
"Vanelli, what are you doing?" Tony asked, the rest of the Stabbing Oysters also wondering what was going on.
"Pointing my gun at you!"
"But why?"
"Because, I'm their spy as well as yours. It was me who shot at you that time on the subway in Darem, I was the anonymous tipster." Tony tried to deny it, but it was so hard not to believe, especially since he had a gun being pointed at him.
"Which one of you painted that logo on the wall?" Mario asked the gang.
Vanelli answered, "I did that to. You see that time we left the art gallery I took the subway. I got here much quicker than you three, so I decided to make you vengeful. That's the only way you would come to this meeting." The Stabbing Oysters would never have expected this in a million years. "Now you must die!"
