Clinical groups are formed very early here in NUS, at the end of first year, and
are done by the students themselves. Rather distressing for some, due to the complex social
interactions and how cliques can change during second year. Generally however, the propinquity
effect usually kicks in and a good working relationship develops, extending even to our
neighbouring CGs. And that's how it was with my CG, people in the next CG whom I would never
have met otherwise became best friends, and a number of romantic attachments form.
And you thought it was just an unimportant, administrative, purely academic thing.
On the other hand, proximity doesn't
always work, and CGs (not mine thankfully) have broken up over failed relationships. And thus
began the debate over whether or not to have your Significant Other in the same CG.
