2007-2008 FHL Awards
Awards (Continued)
'Schoolies Award' - Winner - Josh; Runners up - Jordan D., Jordan T.
Best stickhandler in the league.
Josh edges out the two Jordans based on one fact; he does his trickery at full speed, as opposed to a walking pace.  Incredibly shifty and has a bag of tricks that Jaromir Jagr and Alex Mogilny would be jealous of.
Hardest Shot - Winner - Peter; Runners up - Jordan D., Maciej
Shot with the most speed
Although he's a defender, Peter unleashes a bullet from the point and in the slot when opportunities arise.  You don't want to be a goalie when he lets loose.
Most Accurate Shot - Winner - Josh; Runners up - Jordan D., Cole
Player with the softest hands in front of the net.
Josh could pick out a resting mosquito on the crossbar with his shot, or squash a scuttling beetle on the goaline.  Incredibly soft hands.
Fastest Player - w/out ball - Winner - Neil; Runners up - Josh, Patrick
Player with best wheels without ball.
Second consecutive year of blaring Mach 2 engines for the Irish professor.  Used his speed to get position on players all season long.
Fastest Player - w/ ball - Winner - Josh; Runners up - Maciej, Alex J.
Player with best wheels while stickhandling.
He's a figurative water-bug on the court, dancing in and out and not stopping his speed for even a second.
Most Penalized Player - Winner - Jordan D.; Runners up - Maciej, Ben
Player with most penalty minutes/infractions
Plays rough, and often dirty, Jordan D. managed to rack up a lot of stupid infractions.  Of course, he naturally denied any wrongdoing, like most "innocent" people do.
The Wolverine Award - Winner - Peter; Runners up - Maciej, Jordan D.
Toughest player in the league.
Much like last year, Peter takes high sticks to the midsection, face, neck, arms and shins and still gets up with a well-timed smile.
Best Passer - Winner - Maciej; Runners up - Jordan T., Jordan D.
Player with best vision/passing skills
There simply is no other player on par with Maciej's vision and hands.  Loves to set up passing clinics, which he sees as more important than scoring goals.
The Jim Carrey Trophy - Winner - James; Runners up - Taylor, Neil
Player who makes the most blunders, either intentionally or unintentionally
Watching James throw passes up the middle, not back-check, get deked out on the easiest of moves, get into fights with his own teammates and miss "sitters" in front of the net makes one wonder; why exactly is he not playing goalie?
The Dylan Leetch Award - Winner - Ezra; Runners up - James, Jordan D.
Player who succeeds at best pissing people off
Despite having more than enough talent to succeed, Ezra is a study in inconsistency and frustration.  Continues to piss of his teammates with a lack of effort and a general lack of hockey smarts, despite his experience.
The 'Jega' Award - Winner - Robbie; Runners up - Peter, Jacob
The player who doesn't give up on a play, even at a risk to player safety.  (called a "hack")
Robbie has transformed from a floater to a hockey "hack", becoming an adept forechecker.  Will never give up on a play, especially in the offensive zone.
Clutch Player Award - Winner - Patrick; Runners up - Matthew C., Josh.
Player who steps up when his team most needs it
Patrick, although not as talented as some of his compatriots, has carved out another excellent season in the FHL.  Started off as a top pairing defenceman, before making a fantastic late season transfer over to goalie.  Here, he showed a true penchant for the spectacular, and game-saving, stop.
Most Ridiculous Hockey Stick Award - Winner - James; Runners up - Maciej/Patrick, Josh.
Seriously, why bring that stick?

The winner this year is James' stick, which was a plastic piece of crap he probably got for 40 cents at a garage sale.  Seriously though, the shaft was made of bendable plastic and the stick measured to be about 1 foot in length.  Honorable mentions go to Mac/Pat's taped plastic blade bonanza that stretched on for a good couple of months, and Josh's 1/2 foot stick that looked better suited to be used by an ice hockey playing hamster.
Best Fashion Sense - Winner - Maciej; Runners up - Patrick, Alex J.
You can wear that crap here! award
Another year, another victory for the Polish python.  The highlight of the season; the neon orange shirt couple with the matte black shoes.  Gorrrrrgeous.
