This website is a work in progress [additions are to come, I
hope], but in the meantime if readers wish to contact me with
their views — positive, negative or otherwise — I'm happy to
hear from you. I can be contacted by opening
hailing frequencies.
While I contend that what has been produced here is
'correct,' please bear in mind that it is merely one person's
opinion — an opinion that has been gleaned over many years and
from many of the original sources. The Matsumoto-verse is quite
subjective and readers are free to disagree.
The
Harlock universe presented here is drawn from the pure
unadulterated form,
as Matsumoto Leiji and the associated production companies created it, and in
its original language. It comes not from a
'sanitised for general viewing' version. Nor is it derived from a remade,
redrawn or rework of a world that is so pure and original that
it speaks across cultures and transcends language barriers. It is
a tribute to the strength of Captain Harlock and his creator that despite the horrendous
treatment (and mistreatment) of the good Captain, western audiences can still manage to see through
this miasma of misinformation and misrepresentation and grasp the essence of this
world — and become curiously enamoured of it.
Captain Harlock, his multiverses and associated characters are the
creation of Matsumoto Leiji. This is a fansite, developed solely
