Chapter Four: Time to Shine

Last time, Fauna decides to vent some anger against Warvus (7th Captain of the Swarm; a.k.a. Beetle) by making him perform in front of the entire society as a 'reward'. Also Celeste makes a habit of visiting the girls during lunch and after school, where she makes the acquaintance of Brian. Brian is a brilliant kid but is both deaf and mute, making it difficult to survive in a regular school. Fortunately for him, Celeste knows enough sign language to have conversations (as long as she also says the words so he can lip-read). Amara and Michelle, with the aid of Luna's Mind Meld, manage to reawaken Saturn. Celeste finally meets Darien, both of whom sense a familiarity and have mixed feelings. Everyone ends up going to a concert (the scouts, Amara, Michelle, Hotaru, Darien, Andrew, Celeste and Brian), where Celeste comes up with a plan to deter Brian's romantic feelings for her. Brian is the target for the Evolites, where the Bright Fate Dimmer malfunctions for Scorpion (4th General of the Swarm; m.c.k.a. Cornelius). The senshi's attacks against Scorpion are futile, so he leaves the petty minion Cicada to finish off the pests (senshi). Saturn ends up defeating Cicada. And it appears that Fauna has an informant that is from earth… And so our story continues…

Saturday, March 14

Warvus (7th Captain of the Swarm; a.k.a. Beetle) was nervous. His performance was for that night, and Fauna had been 'kind' enough to make it a Summoning. He had no idea why Fauna seemed to despise him in particular. Okay, so I'm not the greatest fighter. But I have been loyal to her, not once deceiving her or any of my superiors. And all I get is contempt. At least the Monarch Butterfly appreciates me. I need to practice more. Me a musician, hah. Sure I enjoy the Vindra, but I'm mediocre at best. But I'm more adept at the Vindra then at the lendol or mehyrlk, and I am expected to play all three. And this is suppose to be an award? Warvus was tuning and polishing his instruments when he heard a knock at his door. He opened it and there stood Annie (6th Captain of the Swarm; a.k.a. Ant). He motioned for her to come in. Why is Annie here? I thought she was petrified of everything.

Annie walked in and sat down on the only chair in the small room. The carpet felt cool and moist, like moss, and the room made one feel like they were in the forest. "So tonight is your big night. Must be exciting," she commented. He neutrally responded, "yeah, exciting." Annie then turned her black eyes on him. "Do you want to perform?" With resignation he replied, "No. I'm terrified. I hate being under the spotlight." "I know what you mean. I'm constantly scared someone will stare at me, inferring all my flaws and exposing them. And if you don't live up to par tonight, Fauna might very well persecute you. This would be just the excuse she was looking for." "I didn't realize her hatred for me was that obvious." "It isn't. Learning to spot hatred is the only reason I've been surviving. But listen to me Warvus. I've heard your music through the walls. And it touches the heart. You make people appreciate every tone, every nuance, every emotion. Don't let Fauna take that gift from you. This is the safest way of fighting back. The Swarm wouldn't be the same without you."

She got up to leave, but Warvus grabbed her arm. "You are right, as always Annie. Let me show you my gratitude by playing a song." Warvus grabbed the Vindra, an instrument that had drum surfaces on two sides, with a leather ball dangling on one side, metal on the other. There where strings all over, and it somehow resembled a top with hollows in it and loose pieces of cloth. Warvus did a quick exercise with his fingers, before warming up. He stroke the strings with one hand, while shaking the instrument to create the drumming sound with the other. And finally Warvus invoked tiny winds with magic to blow through the hollows. The three types of noises melded to form a song of the forest. Annie closed her eyes, imagining she was in the middle of a forest, sitting on the top of a tree. She started swaying her body and winds that were caused by the music, not the magic, started blowing in her hair. Annie giggled, feeling the warmth and cool contrasts inside herself and on her skin. She felt alive and, for once, at peace. Reluctantly she let go of the feelings once Warvus finished the song. "Warvus, that is how all music should be like. I felt like I was being wrapped in a warm blanket of appreciation. Play like that tonight, and you should go places. There are things I need to attend to, so I'll take my leave."

Buzz (5th Captain of the Swarm; a.k.a. Mosquito) was walking through the Swarm dormitories to visit his lover, Leigh (3rd Captain of the Swarm; a.k.a. Flea). But he was enticed when he heard the buzzing noises and heavy breathing and female giggling coming from Warvus's room. Buzz heard it stop and waited patiently to observe more. He smothered a blood-thirsty laugh as he saw Annie walk out. She appeared dazed, and her usual immaculate appearance was disheveled. She seemed reluctant to leave Warvus's room, and waved a clumsy hand goodbye as she walked out, stumbling as she went. Leigh is going to love hearing this. Little Miss Perfect Annie and the bumbling musician Warvus. In a physical relationship. This is going to make great conversation tonight. Creators, this is so arousing. I think I better get to Leigh instantly. What better way to create passion then planning to wreak havoc? Buzz whistled as he walked to Lei'ghs bedroom, daydreaming of all the torments that he would love to put Annie through.

Annie locked the door to her room once she was inside. She looked in the mirror and was aghast at her appearance. She quickly went to brushing her hair out. She got rid of every knot and tangle, made sure that there was no part in her hair. Her bangs were a mess, so Annie undid them, and then went to the tedious job of wrapping each strand of bang around a special bead. The bangs had to be the same length, with the appearance of a ball of hair the same size at the end of each strand. She then grabbed her scissors to trim her hair for the third time that day. It wasn't perfect enough for Annie. She trimmed the right side so that it touched the tip of her chin and went up at a perfect 15º angle, and when it reached the back, it descended in a 30º until it reached to her left ear at the length of her lip. From there it ascends at a 45º angle until it reaches the height of the bridge of her nose. Her hair was once more perfectly level, framing her thin oval face to her liking.

Annie then glanced at her time keeping instrument. The Summoning was suppose to happen in one hour. And Annie still needed to get her formal dress from Tara's (2nd General of the Swarm; a.k.a. Tarantula) workshop. Annie quickly sprayed the hair spray she received from the first inventors' sorority, one that holds the hair in perfect place for 6 hours without making it sticky or hard. And she then rushed to Tara's workshop, hoping there wouldn't be a long line. I can't afford to come in ordinary clothing, and I'm not chic enough to pull off being fashionably late. Ugh. I better haul my lazy bum over there.

"Princess, don't forget your sweater," scolded a servant. "Yes, I know. I'm just so excited. And with all the items Mother is urging me to bring, I keep forgetting to pack the simpler items," a rich female voice replied. "This isn't a pleasure visit. You have important business to conduct, and you are the only one capable," the servant prodded. "I know, Netis. I can't help it. I'll be able to see all the girls again, instead of them traveling all over the universe." "It is their duty. We must keep up with our part of the Eos Treaty. And they are there to protect planets, moons, and stars that have no guardian. After all, we play big part in the Clarity Alliance." "I KNOW," the Princess responded with irritation. "Netis, you just don't understand. Mother gave me the option to go and aid them then, or aid them now. Either I would see my old friends, or I'd be able to bond with Dawn and Eve. I had to think long and hard about this. And this is my decision. I decided who needs me more with their upcoming fights. Now, if you'll excuse me, Mother wanted to see me. I'd appreciate it if you would finish packing for me." And the Princess strolled out of her bedroom.

The Queen looked at her only daughter, love and pride shown in that gaze. She has taken the first step to accepting her destiny. Just as is written. I should know better than to doubt Mnemonsyne. Momentarily we shall see if she will accept the full responsibilities of this decision. Now where is that husband of mine? The Queen let her eyes drift, searching for the King. "Honey, is this the true path you want. You can stay here with me and your father and everyone. You would be just as valuable here." The Princess sternly replied, "I know that this is always an option for me. But from what you have shown me, I am needed there. And I assume you will block off part of my memories of the past two years, so that I will not reveal anything before its time has come," the Princess shrewdly replied.

The Queen was momentarily disoriented by her daughter's acuteness. But she remembered that her daughter wasn't her. "I see you have been associating with Mnemonsyne and the rest of the Scribes. So then you already realize how delicate time is, and that our using it to travel makes it even more fragile. We should all be glad that Trista has agreed to come along, which will help prevent time's deterioration. But it is required. We can't afford you remembering something that will happen. And trust me, you would then feel compelled to prevent disaster. Sometimes mistakes need to be made so that way there will be corrections to fix numerous errors." "I think I understand Mother. Now what are some items you want me to bring?"

"Your brooch and the Time Key, obviously. But also here is a gift to give to your guardian. In it are items that have been lost in time but been refound recently. And these beads are going to be required. They have been strung as an anklet. Don't ask me why you need them, just put them on," the Queen instructed while handing over a simple looking anklet with simple pink glass beads. "And I need you to remove a few items. Your ring, pendant, and coronet are to remain here," the Queen insisted. The Princess hesitated. But she did as she was told. She then handed the items to her mother. The Queen nodded in satisfaction. "Go fetch Trista. You two should go into the Royal Chambers, and wait for Diana. She should arrive as soon as she says farewell to her parents. I'll be there shortly to block your memories," the Queen told her daughter. The Princess nodded, curtsied, and left the Throne room. The Queen fidgeted with the ring on her finger (not the one given by her beloved for their wedding, but one given by another dear to her heart) as she thought Good luck, my darling Rini.

Celeste was rushing out of the condominium complex for her date. As she ran through the lobby, she saw a little girl sternly yelling at a pair of ten-year old brats. If one looked closely enough, they would see that tears were streaming down the girls' face. The leader of the pair was holding her arm up, taunting the girl with whatever she had. I'll either be on time for my date, or I become a meddling busy-body. What can I say, I have little will-power when it comes to minding my own business. Celeste slithered towards the kids. "Hey, what you got there? Can I see?" The leader, a scrawny girl with muddy hair and a pinched face, looked defiant at the question, but noticed that Celeste was older, bigger, and now involved. "I got nothing," she lied, hiding her hands behind her back and passing the object to her lackey. "Guess you don't. But you do. And it would be best for all of us if you would show it to me." Reluctantly the lackey gave Celeste the item.

It was a ring with a watch face on it. She was impressed. It was beautiful. Probably the little girl got it as a recent gift and was flaunting it. And then these bullies took it away. "Whose is this?" Celeste demanded. But as Celeste looked up, she saw that the bullies had made a run for it. The leader looked back, and Celeste narrowed her eyes and gave a sneer. The leader gulped and shut the elevator door as soon as she was in. "So, I guess this is yours then," Celeste kindly said to the little girl. She girl nodded, looking Celeste in the eyes. She held out her hand, expecting to be given back her ring. A chuckle was smothered, and the ring was returned to its rightful owner. "This is real pretty. Where did you get it?" "I made it. I'm Lexie. Who are you?" Celeste figured the girl was miscommunicating when Lexie claimed to have made it. But Celeste liked the blunt girl, whose rudeness could easily be excused by her youth. "Celeste. So you made this, huh? How'd you do it?" Celeste asked, trying to humor Lexie. "I bought the ring at a jewelry store in the mall. Then I set this watch face I made into it, and added the batteries and gears so that way it works as a watch." Celeste's rational part of her mind told her the girl was embellishing. But she had a feeling Lexie was being a hundred percent honest. And Celeste usually succumbed to instinct. "Wow. That is a cool skill to have. Does it work?" "Of course. I just need to change the battery." "Would you make one for me?" Lexie considered this. She then plainly expressed, "Since you helped me out, I'll help you. Only fair." Celeste told Lexie which condo she lived in. Then Celeste made a rush for her date, who she prayed wasn't going to be upset.

A hush filled the room as Annie entered the Great Hall. Everyone was pointing and whispering. Annie looked nervous as she glided in her gown, a black dress that cupped her breasts and then flowed to her mid calves in veils of black, red and blue. She awkwardly took her seat at the Swarm table, awaiting Warvus's performance. Everyone seemed to stare at her, some in shock, others with scorn, and many had hungry looks in their eyes. A few others looked viciously gleeful. Stop it Annie. It is only your imagination, no one cares about an insignificant ant. And that is what I am to them. Catch you breath. Breathe. Good. Now try to eat something.

Unfortunately for Annie, it wasn't her imagination. Buzz and Leah had spread the word about Annie coming out of Warvus's room. At the Den table, they were discussing this issue. "I guess she isn't as innocent as she would like us to believe," giggled Katrina (3rd General of the Den; a.k.a. Hyena). "You said it. I'm not surprised she is such a slut. Low ranked Captains always try to give favors to gain rank," Becca (1st General of the Den; a.k.a. Dingo) snidely commented. Cassidy (2nd General of the Den; a.k.a. Jackal) added with humor in his voice, "Guess Annie couldn't find anyone of higher rank within the Swarm to bed with her. Remember, Warvus is of lower rank." Katrina gigglishly responded, "And I thought Warvus wasn't interested in relationships." Katrina cracked up at her comment, which lacked any apparent humor and apparent point.

Cassidy ignored her as he let on, "Actually, in a pathetic way, Annie is pretty. Now that I know she isn't likely to turn down an advancement, it is almost tempting to flirt with her. But she is too damn quiet." Becca made disapproving noises and advised, "Don't sink to that level. Leave her to someone who likes meek and easy ones. Baxter (2nd Captain of the Den; a.k.a. Basset) or Glenn (5th Captain of the Den; a.k.a. Beagle) for instance." Katrina smirked as she pointed out that Vickie (5th General of the Den; a.k.a. Vixen) was flirting with everyone within sight to become the center of attention once more.

That was how most table conversations went. At the Swarm table, all the females, except Iris (4th Captain of the Swarm; a.k.a. Firefly), were pointedly ignoring Annie. All the males, and Iris, were dropping pick-up lines. There was something about the thought of a saintly person suddenly being accessible that made her seem so desirable. And Annie had a thin and curvy figure that was attractive to most of the male Evolites. It slipped their minds that this was a Summoning and that Warvus's performance was coming up, who was nowhere in the room. The Monarch Butterfly made himself intent on his dinner, trying to block out the gossip and thoughts running through his head. It came to no avail. His blood curdled at the thought of Annie with a man. At least, a man besides himself. M Butterfly was in an internal struggle whether or not to take Annie off of the imaginary pedestal where he had placed her. I should have known. All women are just like Fauna; manipulative sluts. Damn my romantic ideals that have blinded me. This has finally reawaken my sight. But the Monarch couldn't shake off his feelings for Annie as easy as that. He was hoping the Summoning would start soon, for he feared what he might do if his murderous rage was left to simmer.

The sole person to notice the Monarch's turmoil was not Annie. Annie was too baffled and embarrassed to observe Butterfly. No, the person who noticed did cared for the Monarch as well, but had darker intentions. Fauna was pleased with the new events. She decided she ought to go as far as to encourage the relationship between Annie and Warvus, something she generally declines to do in favor of letting nature take its course. What a cute couple. Two bumbling insects that should be persecuted. But this should be amusing, so why destroy a perfectly good source of amusement? Hah, they'll live so long as they don't make anymore mistakes. And M shall be dedicated solely to me once more. As things should be.

Fauna then realized that everyone failed to remember this was a Summoning. She motioned for a servant to receive orders, who then ran off to fulfill them. Fauna felt a surge of jealousy, something she ordinarily didn't feel. Here Annie was the center of attention, when they ought to have been groveling before Fauna. It seemed that Annie was the single being who Fauna ever envied. But Fauna had plans to take away the one thing she envied most. The thing that was stolen away so long ago, Fauna hardly remembered what it was like to have it. Soon you shall know how I feel, and then you'd wish I had squashed you like an ant.

Start playing song: "You'll Always Be My Baby" performed by Mariah Carey.

King Endymion of Neo Earth was in his favorite place, besides the Royal Chambers. His personal rose garden. While the palace boasted many rose gardens in numerous places, there were a few royal ones where only the royal family and close friends and advisors were allowed to visit, but those gardens were tended by specially picked gardeners. This garden was tended by the King himself. Here were roses that were the last of the ones he had used as Tuxedo Mask years ago. The roses had a special quality, that of developing thorns only when they sensed danger. Here King Endymion came to think when he was troubled or just needed to be Endymion, and forget his responsibilities.

And Endymion was thinking how his little girl was growing up. He realized that she had her destiny to fulfill, same as he and Serena (Serenity he scolded himself) had theirs to fulfill. But this visit to the past was just as critical as her past ones, perhaps more so. Maybe in the past the senshi could have defeated their various foes without Rini, but would the scouts have managed to stop the NegaMoon in both the past and Neo Earth present? Would Hotaru have turned into Mistress9 due to a pure enough heart crystal only to be salvaged by memories of the crystal holder? Would Pegasus have found a person with the golden mirror and would Sailor Moon have figured out a way to wield the golden crystal?

Endymion had his doubts. But now Rini had to go to the past to be a factor in what guides the future to what it is meant to be. What worried Endymion was whether Princess Rini was that crucial in the past. And whether Rini was capable of playing her part in the scheme of things. Cause if anything doesn't go exactly as it should, our world will collapse, and Rini would never exist in the first place. Even Mnemonsyne isn't sure she can break a paradox. If we have mistaken my sweetheart's destiny, all we have worked for shall fall apart. As Clarity prays, so shall I. 'May everything be as it should.' That is all I can do. Control has slipped out of my hands. It's Rini's turn to move the pawns in this game of destiny.

Neo Queen Serenity struggled to hold back tears. She knew Rini had gone into the past before to fight with the Sailor senshi. But this time it wasn't a 50/50 likelihood that things would turn out as they should. That was how it had always been. If they won, the future would be as it should. But this time there were too many different paths. And all because of her. There is something about her and breaking boundaries. Hopefully it won't rub off on Rini. But then again, she was born to cause changes. Our existence isn't secure until the Great Scribe is awakened and they retrieve the Golden Scriptures. Only the Golden Scriptures can survive time. If they fail, I fear Mars's vision will come true. But I can't tell Rini this; she will find out when the time is right. For all I know, Rini realizes this.

The Queen knew that she couldn't draw out this moment any longer. She held up the Imperial Silver Crystal and used it to block out the memories of the past two years in the three standing before her: Princess Small Lady Serenity, the hope of the future; Trista, Sailor Pluto and the Guardian of Time; Diana, future advisor of Rini, who was now reverting to her cat form. Then Princess Small Lady used the Time Key, Trista as Sailor Pluto stabilizing its power. They waved good-bye as they left, not to return for a long time.

It was then that King Endymion entered the room. He looked sad once he realized he didn't see Rini off. Serenity stifled her tears for his sake. She would be comforted later, right now her love needed it more. "I never got a chance to wish her goodbye… I won't see her for a long time." He finally broke down into sobs. Serenity patted his back as they both sat down on the bed. He wistfully told her, "And I didn't express how much I love and care for her." Serenity nodded empathetically, "I know darling. But she already knew. She has always known. Even back when I was a meatball head." He smiled as he said, "You might be Queen, but you are still a meatball head." They were still trading insults as a pillow fight started between them. For the moment they forgot all their worries, all their responsibilities, all their fears. All that mattered was avoiding the other's pillow. Hours later, Endymion remembered his farewell gift for Rini that was never delivered. One of his roses. Except this one was pink with gold tips. Something rare and special. Just like Princess Small Lady.

Amara and Michelle were on the roof of their amazing apartment, discussing something that they needed to finally confront. Their mysterious benefactor. They used to believe that it was some distant relation, who might have known about their alter egos. But that was not the case. "Michelle, I've come to regret using this money to do as we please." "You couldn't have known that it wasn't an indulging relative. Neither of us knew." "Everything we've built together has been with his money. The aquarium, the helicopters, my cars, even funding for both of our passions." "My art and music, and your racing. Love, we don't know that this money is tainted. For all we know, it could be some millionaire who wants to benefit two promising teens." Amara snorted as she replied, "If that is the case, I don't want to know what he'd want as compensation. Besides, this might be an enemy that has been dormant but is only now coming out. And…"

But Michelle had took hold of Amara's jaw, holding Amara's face so that way she was forced to look Michelle in the eye. "Do you honestly believe that? If this is an enemy, his mind games alone would destroy us. Why would an enemy have helped us destroy the Bureau of Bad Behavior? I favor the idea that he is someone from our past or future." Amara gaze went distant as she thought this over. She then smiled, "You are probably right. I'm just letting my guard go on overdrive." Michelle loosened her grip on Amara's jaw, and nestled her head on Amara's shoulder. "That is why I love you. You are cautious and try seeing all the possibilities."

At the moment, Michelle was wrong. Amara's guard being down had made them unaware of their silent observer. So this is what they're hiding. I had feared their secret might have been something we should all know about. And a white figure ran down the stairs of the roof, whose stealth had improved greatly over the years. Artemis had automatically decided that the duo's secret would go no farther, seeing no reason to reveal it.

Warvus nervously wrung his hands as he rocked in his seat backstage. In the Great Hall was a stage where Fauna would give her speeches, or entertainers performed. And as soon as Fauna gave her customary speech, Warvus was to perform. He replayed the music in his mind, not the ones that he would create out of the moment, but the music that was carefully written. Plans were made to play music that drastically contrasted with what he played as a gratitude to Annie. He peaked out of the curtain, noticing that the crowd had a tense buzz. Warvus was curious what they were all saying, but scolded himself. Warvus forced himself to be professional, mind solely on the music. For that was all that mattered during his upcoming performance, the music. Warvus would forget his audience, his thoughts, his worries. When creating music, the only things that matter are emotions and the song.

Fauna stood up from her throne, the noise slowly coming to a stop. There was one last giggle coming from Katrina (3rd of the Den Generals; a.k.a. Hyena). She slinked to the stage, her ivory ensemble (literally) drawing the Evolites' attention. She flashed a sly grin as she waited for a few moments for her guest to get anxious. "Welcome all. I have some announcements to make. I would like all of you to meet an ally to all of the Evolites, one that has much information to share with all of us." Warvus was puzzled, since he thought tonight was just an excuse to humiliate himself. But he could hear muted muttering coming from the crowd, so apparently he was not the only one left in the dark. Two servants escorted a figure. Warvus noticed that the figure was a teenage boy who was wearing khaki slacks and a dress shirt. The boy seemed to be oblivious to the murmurs that were filling the giant room. But the boy realized how vital a good impression was. He acknowledged the servants as they left him, and he continued to walk to Fauna's side.

That's the boy I saw Fauna with the other day! the Monarch realized. Fauna continued, "This is Derek, an Earth child that shall help us to understand their culture. And Derek, these are my Evolites. You shall have an opportunity to acquaint yourself with all the Clan members after tonight's performance. But for now, we have a wonderful talent who has been given an opportunity to share his gift with you. Give absolute attention to Warvus, 7th Captain of the Swarm," Fauna ordered.

The moment Fauna was offstage and Derek was in a seat, she whispered snidely to Warvus, "Don't screw up. Your girlfriend will receive just as much grief as you will." Then sugary she wished him good luck. And may the night be mine, my vindictive leader. Snickering was what greeted Warvus as he stepped onstage.

Start playing song: "Rhythm Divine" performed by Enrique Iglesias.

He closed his eyes as he brought out his instruments. His first song would set the tone for the rest of the night, so he picked his instrument that was best for manipulating thoughts. The mehyrlk was a complicated instrument that partially resembled a flute and clarinet, and half resembled tiny bells that would ring on larger bells, which in turn would ring on even larger bells. Warvus put the mouthpiece to his lips, and started playing with one hand over the different holes. Then he started delicately hitting the bells with his other hand, different bells having different pitches and lengths and personal melodies. He invoked a little wind to help with his various noises, cause that was what made this instrument so difficult to master. It had too many possible noises with every action, and your attention was constantly split. But Warvus created his desired effect, creating a tapestry of notes that became whispers and thoughts. Warvus cautiously made the whispers and thoughts say, "Trust" "Enjoy" "Respect" "Loyalty".

Once Warvus had dwindled to the ending, one last pair of bells echoing in the Great Hall. And Warvus was awarded by torrents of applause. He grinned at Annie before beginning his next piece. She was right. He was capable of doing the unthinkable. Fighting back against Fauna's injustices. With renewed hope in his heart, he played to the best of his ability for the rest of the night. And was greatly awarded for his outstanding performance. Surprisingly, even Fauna congratulated him. But Warvus was too worn out to stay and savor this wave of acceptance. He went to bed as soon as he formally met Derek. Hence, for the time being, Warvus was unaware of the rumors of a liaison between himself and Annie.

"This girl Lexie really seems to have a gift," Celeste exclaimed to her date, Grant. But Grant disinterestedly replied, "Yeah, whatever. How about we change the subject? I can think of better things our lips could be doing than talking." Celeste understood the not-so-subtle overture, but ignored it. "Okay, how about we get something to eat? I'm famished from all the screaming on the rides. And I love carnival food! It may be greasy and fattening, but it sure as hell tastes good. Look, they have a Chinese food booth. Would you mind getting me a rice and mixed vegetable combo?" She asked sweetly. Since Celeste had a stronger willpower than Grant and was being cheerful, he said he would without sounding resentful.

To be honest, Celeste didn't particularly like carnival food. She had developed into somewhat of a health nut from living in LA and going to all sorts of exotic places. While she wasn't entirely vegetarian, she ate as little meat as possible. She didn't like the thought of eating carnage, which was what she thought of when she bit into a hamburger or whatever. Condemning others' tastes was something Celeste avoided, and sometimes could bring herself to eat a fast-food cheeseburger when with a group of teenagers. Not that she considered most of the people she hung out with friends. To Celeste, the teenagers were friendly acquaintances. But Celeste hated greasy food, and tended to eat fruits and veggies ever since she heard that they carried more direct energy than meats. So Celeste hid her disappointment when Grant messed up her order.

Instead of mixed vegetables and rice, he had gotten tempura vegetables and shrimp and fried rice. She thanked him, and used the napkin he had brought to wipe off excess grease. They walked around until they came upon a bench, where they sat to eat their dinners. Since she had schooled herself from childhood on being able to control her expressions and body language when she felt the need, she didn't betray her disappointment. Instead, she ate it with zeal, and actually liked it. She was thirsty, so she told him she had to go to the lady's room. Celeste didn't want him to spend all his money on her, and Celeste was craving a mocha cappuccino, so she made a harmless lie.

Celeste knew that she lied a lot, but she still considered herself honest. She didn't think her little fibs were unfair, rather she was being deceitful for others' own good. Sometimes the truth could hurt too much, and lies were her way of softening the blow. Or they were ways of avoiding confrontations. And Celeste had feared that might happen with her and Grant. She thought he was way too macho for her. He had strict ideas what was a guy's business and what was a girl's. He didn't think too highly of female intelligence and ambition. But he is sooo cute and exciting. Still, that isn't enough. He isn't boyfriend material, but he might be good for a few more dates. But there is no way I can play the ditzy female for him on a regular basis.

Oddly, at that moment Celeste felt herself go cold inside. She looked around and saw Hotaru with someone who must be her father. Celeste shook the feeling off as she waved and called out Hotaru's name. Hotaru's head perked up and looked around. She waved at Celeste, and called out something that couldn't be heard over the crowd. And then Celeste couldn't find her. She dismissed that as she continued off, in search of the coffee booth she saw earlier. When she reached it, she was in bliss. Celeste loved coffee. It was an energy boost for her and her main source of caffeine; Celeste targeted caffeine-free sodas.

"Hey, it's you!" exclaimed a blunt and child-like voice. She looked around and spotted Lexie. "And it's you, too! Lexie, why are you waiting around here? Are you here with anyone?" "I'm waiting for my older sibling Jess. Jess told me to wait here," Lexie said as if she expected everyone to know this; meaning with little patience. "Do you want company while you wait?" Lexie tried hiding that she did by sounding gruff as she responded, "If you want. Jess should be here soon." Celeste hid her smile, knowing this girl wasn't as callous as she appeared. "So, how's the ring-watch coming along?" Lexie got enthusiastic as she explained the details that would be put on the watch, how she would engrave designs in it, and how the sterling silver ring would look nice with a pair of metallic blue hands and numbers. Celeste encouraged Lexie to give her the details of its structure. And Celeste sincerely said, "I think this is an ingenious idea. It is a classier way of knowing the time. And the design you are coming up with sounds amazing. I'm positive I'll love it." "Told you munchkin. I'm not the only one who likes your watches on rings idea. But then again, you never believe I tell you the truth. After all, I'm only your big brother," said a new voice.

Celeste was surprised, until it dawned on her Jess was short for Jesse, not Jessica. "So, you're Jess. I'm Celeste, I live in your condominium complex." Jess looked at Celeste, as if just noticing her for the first time. He ran his fingers through his shaggy, but well kept, light brown hair. "I thought I knew everyone in the complex. The only people to move in recently was some big deal photographer." "So you do know us. My father is a photographer," Celeste said friendly enough, though she really wanted to avoid the subject of her parents. Jess was probably a junior or senior in high school, and Celeste was attracted to his smile and relationship with his sister. Celeste was thinking of exchanging numbers when she remembered that her own date was waiting. "I'll hopefully see you two around. And I am looking forward to seeing my ring when its done. And Lexie, I enjoyed hanging with you. Bye." Celeste thought she heard a sigh as she walked off, but it very well could have been Lexie. She didn't want to raise her hopes too much.

When Celeste got back to Grant, he griped "What is it with girls and taking forever to go to the bathroom?" Celeste held back the retort that was dying to be said. Grant was not the type to enjoy arguments. He was always right, without dispute. Celeste then suggested, for both their sake, "Why don't we watch the sunset as we go on the Ferris wheel?" Grant agreed, anxious for a potential opportunity to kiss Celeste. Like I would make-out with him. I actually think I won't give him another call. Too much of a chauvinistic pig, even for me to put up with on a regular basis. Grant won't even get the customary peck on the cheek tonight, cause he is not worth it; despite him being willing to let me do what I want, as long as they were within 'feminine boundaries.' Gag. Besides, I'd rather see how things would fare between Jess and me. As the night went on, Grant pushed Celeste far enough to give him a piece of her mind. The lecture and black eye got her point across. Next time he went out with a girl, he would realize that he should never underestimate her.

Sunday, March 15

"Serena, get the door!" Serena grumbled as she got out of bed. It was only noon on Sunday. But Serena did as she was told. Once the door was opened, she was shocked to see that there were three guests. As soon as Luna padded down stairs, the two went out to talk with the semi-unexpected arrivals. "Aren't you going to say anything? I mean, it is your future daughter that has returned," Rini exclaimed, having forgotten all her carefully schooled manners she learned in the past two years. They hugged, same as Luna and Diana were doing a cat equivalent. Trista stood aside, feeling awkward. She had no recollections of what it was like to have a mother, and she knew in her heart that she wanted to love someone with maternal instincts. She wanted someone to love period; not the love between friends. "We are here as we said we would, your majesty." Serena reprimanded, "Don't call me that. I'm not Queen yet, and I haven't been a princess for a millennium. Stick with Serena, although I'm sure the others will suggest meatball-head or moon face. In this time period, we are equals. Got it?" Trista smiled. She really wouldn't have felt comfortable calling an irresponsible teenager 'majesty' all the time.

Trista then changed the subject to something of a more dire nature. "Has the new enemy made an appearance?" Serena then turned serious. "Yes. So far, they have made two appearances. Both times we managed to save the victim. However…" Rini perked up at this, "However what? Spit it out, Serena." Serena stuck out her tongue before continuing, "However, the main reason we seemed to have succeed is because the enemy has had technical difficulties." "Something that they are sure to overcome, and soon," Luna pointed out. Trista asked, "Anything else you know about them?" "Only that they call themselves the Evolites and have said something about the Clan of the Swarm," Serena said after careful thought. "Don't forget, so far they seem to have insect names. And they are incredibly strong. It took Saturn to barely defeat one of their 'petty minions,' the weaker fighters. This looks bad," Luna said with dismay.

That was when Diana spoke, "Princess, didn't your mother have gifts for your guardian?" Rini looked embarrassed as she exclaimed, "Oh yeah!" Rini rummaged through the rabbit backpack she had, the one that Serena had made as a going away gift. Finally Rini found the carefully wrapped gift. Serena sat down on the porch and anxiously shredded it. When she opened it she gasped. In her uplifted hand were relics that had been lost during her battles. There was the Crescent Moon Wand and the Purity Chalice, amongst a few other items. Serena felt a new surge of confidence for their side. For, with these lost relics, there was no way they could lose. Right?

"Vickie and Mel, I have seen how well you have succeeded in my past few tasks," Fauna commended Vickie (5th General of the Den; a.k.a. Vixen) and Mel (3rd General of the Hoof; a.k.a. Camel). "Mel, you did a wonderful job recently. I never would have taken these pests, the Sailor senshi, seriously. But you did, and it was ingenious of you to go for a victim co incisively with Warvus (7th Captain of the Swarm; a.k.a. Beetle) and Natalie's (5th General of the Swarm; a.k.a. Snail) failure. And while the Bright Fate Dimmer failed for you as well, you did manage to taint a Bright Future," Fauna recounted. "But what impressed me most was that you had the wit to bring our young victim here. Derek will be a valuable asset. However, I command you to avoid him, especially when you are on a mission. There is no need to tell him that the monster who harmed him, Camel, and you are the same. It would shatter my lies that we saved him."

Fauna then grabbed a deck of cards. She snapped her fingers, having the cards fanned out in midair, face down. "Pick a card for your reward. And there are no exchanges, Mel." Mel slowly extended a hand and drew a card. He took a breath before flipping it over. It showed a man at a feast. "Ah. My dear child, you are to be given a promotion, and a feast to acknowledge it. You are to also be granted 6,000 privilege marks." Mel nodded gratefully, and walked out at Fauna's obvious gestures of dismissal.

That's what Fauna liked about Mel. He accepted things readily and didn't waste time talking. Fauna then turned her full attention on Vickie. "You just heard what I said?" Vickie licked her lips as she responded, "Yes. Our earthling ally, Derek, once had a bright future, but Mel managed to taint it." Fauna approved, "Good. As you are quite aware, you're notorious for your abilities to ensnare and manipulate the opposite sex. Even though all the male Evolites know it, they still fall to your whims." Vickie coyly responded, "I am glad you have heard of my abilities. What you want me to do has to do with Derek, doesn't it Fauna.?"

Fauna smiled at Vickie's observation, "Yes. His loyalty to us is based solely on lies and his sense of honor. What I want is for him to be loyal because he wants to be. So, I figured that we could give him a tour of the ship and he can get to know my Evolites in a casual atmosphere. And you would be a good candidate to show him around. I will give orders to every Clan member about their behavior and what is taboo." Vickie developed a smug grin and said, "I would be honored to play tour guide. He is cute, and I'm sure I can make him willingly do whatever we want him to. What are my guidelines?" "Be subtle. We don't want him to be alienated. Instead, make him feel like he is bound to you. Don't let him know how loose you skirt is; it seems these humans are big on relationships. Avoid the dormitories unless he suggests it. And don't mention why we are here and why you are also known as Vixen. He thinks that we are here to observe earth and see if it will be a good refuge for us. My more specific instructions will be sent to you late on," Fauna instructed.

Vickie nodded her understanding and acceptance. Fauna then looked over Vickie's body language, checking for any hints of hidden motives. Her eyes rested on the buxom body longer than she realized, for Vickie realized the eyes lingering on her voluptuous figure. Vickie subtly shifted her weight, causing her baggy pants to slip a little lower and leaned forward to give Fauna a better view of the crevice of her bosom. She realized long ago that bedding with someone gives her a tie that can't be severed. And with that tie Vickie could earn advantages that were hard to get in this cutthroat society. There was no person in a better position to give out favors than Fauna, so Vickie was going to do what it takes to get those favors.

Fauna felt her body get lustful. Males have started to get boring and I haven't been with a female in several months, not since Iris (4th Captain of the Swarm; a.k.a. Firefly) wouldn't give fetishes after receiving none. And this is a way for me to evaluate Vickie's abilities to make ties to someone. But there is no doubt that she will be capable of seducing Derek So, Fauna succumbed to her hormones and Vickie's expertise.

Start playing song: "One Week" performed by Barenaked Ladies.

Last night, Saturday, Celeste got a good idea for the gifts she had been searching for. Rings. She had Grant drop her off at the mall, who was willing to comply after she gave him a black eye. Celeste had then gone into the jewelry store and bought ten plain rings, each of a different metal. Celeste had then spent all night engraving each individual ring with various symbols. With Phoebe watching her work, Celeste had felt joyful while she worked. For some reason, Celeste had started to sing, words that were just random syllables thrown together, during every mark she made.

Today she was heading to the jewelry store to get boxes for each ring. As she just reached the mall, Celeste felt herself turn cold inside. Celeste looked around and wasn't surprised to find Hotaru. With her was Serena, a younger girl with Serena's hairstyle in pink, a gray cat, Luna, and a tan woman with green hair in a partial bun. Serena was the one to notice Celeste and started to wave wildly. Celeste chuckled and waved back as she walked towards them. She noticed that the gray cat had a crescent moon on her forehead, just like Luna and Artemis.

"Hey Celeste, what are you doing here?" Serena greeted. "Just buying a few gifts. And you?" "The brat here decided to con a couple ice creams out of me," Serena replied, indicating the pink haired girl. "Serena, I am not a brat. And you were the one to offer. It's not my fault that you'll spend all of your money," the pink haired girl replied. Hotaru giggled and the woman told Celeste, "They always seem to fight like this. One would never know that the two of them actually like each other."

The squabblers exclaimed, "We resent that!" Celeste smiled, "I'm Celeste, a friend of Mina and the girls. And you are?" "Trista Meiou, a family friend of Serena and Rini." Celeste shook hands with Trista and Rini. So this is the Rini Darien mentioned. It is obvious why he says there is a strong family resemblance between the two.

"So Rini is Serena's cousin?" There was a momentary silence before Rini responded, "Distant cousin. But our family feels that family is way important." "I see. And who is this adorable kitty?" Serena responded, "Diana. She's Luna and Artemis's daughter." Serena winced, Luna's claws digging into her shoulder. Celeste commented, "Why am I not surprised?" When she got strange looks, she explained, "Both Artemis and Luna have crescent moons on their foreheads. And Diana does as well, and gray is a cross between black and white. And the name is predictable, since Artemis and Luna are Greek and Roman names for two of the moon goddesses. So it would be a reasonable assumption for their kitten to be named either Diana or Selene." Trista commented, "That is a perceptive observation." Hotaru was curious, "How did you know about the names of the Greek and Roman moon goddesses?" Celeste modestly replied, "I've always been fascinated by ancient cultures and their mythologies. So this one was easy for me to piece together."

She then came up with an idea. "What are you doing later?" Serena replied, "Me and the girls were planning on going to the carnival to welcome Trista and Rini home." "Well, before you guys go, how about you meet at my home at two. Not the studio. It will be an impromptu house-warming slash welcome back party. Afterwards, we can go to the carnival together. What do you think?" "Great!" Rini and Serena beamed. "But won't your dad mind?" Hotaru asked. "Nah, he knows I won't wreck the condo. I'm gonna call him anyways, just for formalities." So Trista and Hotaru promised their attendance. Celeste whisked out her cell phone and dialed the studio. She got permission and went on to call everyone else (asking Serena and Trista for their numbers). Everyone agreed to come. By then it was 11:00. "Look, I've got to buy a couple of things for later. Come casually, and the only thing you might want to bring is food and bathing suits, but otherwise don't worry. Oh yeah, the cats are invited as well, cause the complex doesn't really care about pets and Phoebe knows how to avoid claws. See ya!"

"Who's Phoebe?" Diana asked once Celeste had walked away. Luna replied, "Her pet dove. Who is off limits." "But Mom!" Luna gave her daughter a look, "She was nice enough to include us. How do you think she'll react if her pet is eaten?" Diana grumbled a reluctant promise. Serena then covered their mouths. "We are in a public place, and cats are not suppose to talk. So stay quiet, or else you don't get any ice cream." Serena thought to herself, Celeste is so cool. We've only known her for a week, and already she is inviting us to a party. She just seems to be one of us, the way she fits in so easily with the rest of us. It is almost sad that she isn't able to join us as a sailor senshi, but that is impossible. We'll just have to continue keeping the secret.

After coming up with her party idea, Celeste headed to the jewelry store as planned. But she had more to buy than she had anticipated. She went to the owner, a lovely red haired woman, "Hello, I would like…" "I'm sorry honey, but can you wait a minute to be helped?" A young girl walked from the back closet and stated, "Mama, you go do what you need to. I'll help this customer." "Thanks Molly." The girl then turned towards Celeste and asked, "What can I do for you?" "I would like to buy two more plain metal rings," Celeste claimed. "Sure thing. But you know, after you've bought twelve items here, you can get a thirteenth item of equal or lesser value. Are you interested?" Celeste thought this over; she only needed two more rings, one for Trista and Rini, but it would be a shame to not get her full money's worth. "Sure. I'd like one size four pink gold, one size 5 palladium, and one size 7 bronze. Also I'd like twelve ring boxes." Molly gave her the items and Celeste paid. Celeste thanked her, but couldn't bring herself to walk off. She was positive she had seen that red head with blue eyes before. She went against her best judgment and extended an invitation for Molly. But Molly was unable to come, but both felt like they had a new friend.

Celeste then went through the hectic process of rushing to buy snack stuff and basic decorations and some party games. She then ran to the studio, and begged her dad to give her a ride. Odd, I've never considered myself to have real friends before, except Mina. And now it seems I'm able to make true friends instantly. Is this a change in me or is it the people I'm with. I feel like I've known them forever, when in reality it has only been a week for the girls, and less with everyone else. With the way I'm making friends, it won't be long before I find someone to own the 13th ring. But I am so lucky Dad is so easygoing. Most fathers would have conniptions if their daughter decided to have a last minute unchaperoned party. Or go out on as many dates as I do. And it isn't like Dad doesn't care, but he knows me well enough that if he forbid something, I'd just sneak around his back. He trusts me. But I'll never understand why Mom and Dad did such childish things before breaking up. Celeste clenched her fists as she walked out of the car.

Celeste loved both of her parents, but before their separation, she had come to lose a lot of respect for them. She didn't blame the divorce on herself; she was too old for that and had seen too many TV shows where kids did that. No, she blamed her parents somewhat, but mostly she blamed the industry. The pressures, the parties, the drugs, the fame, the models, the competition; everything in it made her sick. Long ago Celeste vowed to never become a model or photographer in the industry, not since she saw all the emotional trauma. But she had slowly become more and more repelled when people tried to use her to get into the industry. While Celeste had slowly come to accept that the industry would always be an indirect part of her life, her avoidance was renewed during her parents' messy separation and divorce. She had come to be convinced that if her parents had never been apart of the industry, they would still be together.

Celeste thanked her dad for the ride, and he said, "Have fun. I'll be working late tonight and getting up early in the morning, so I'm going to stay at the studio tonight. Where are you planning to stay?" "I'm not going to head back in that direction, so I'll just stick with the condo." "Alright. Have fun at your get together and the carnival. Remember, check in at no later then 11:00. Love you," and he gave her a hug and a quick kiss on the forehead. "Love you too. Don't stay up too late, otherwise you'll make yourself sick." "I won't. Thanks for the concern." "Never said I was concerned about you. Who do you think would be the one forced to nurse you back to health? It would be a major blow on my social life." They both were smothering laughs as they parted ways. And Celeste went to the hectic chore of getting the condo ready for a party.

Start playing song: "Uninvited" performed by Alanis Morisette.

"I love your outfit!" gushed Neil (5th Captain of the Whisker; a.k.a. Guinea Pig). "However, I'd love to see what gives your dress its dimensions even more," he continued. Annie (6th Captain of the Swarm; a.k.a. Ant) blushed furiously at the overt interest. Male interest was something she always desired, but not like this. She wanted romance, not perverts pursuing a physical relationship. "I'm sure Tara (2nd General of the Swarm; a.k.a. Tarantula) would be willing to give you a copy of the designs," she used as a distraction. "That wasn't what I meant. Perhaps if you were to join me for some wine in my room…" Neil suggested. Annie knew that she was at a close enough rank to Neil to blow him off entirely. And politeness didn't seem to be working. "Neil, I'm not interested. Maybe you need your eyes and ears checked, cause you don't seem to be hearing me nor reading what my flapping lips are saying. Why don't you go run in a hamster wheel or something to use up your extra energy?" Neil was so shocked that he scurried away, probably not to return until he had a retort in a few hours. Annie leaned against the wall, taking in deep breaths to calm herself.

All this trouble because of an assumption blown up into a rumor. And it is just my luck that it is considered a gossip-worthy topic. Now I'm either considered the lowly female who was conquered by Warvus the hero. Or I'm the saint that seduced scum. Damn it. Why am I always the one who loses? Whoever came up with the proverb 'Be careful what you wish for' must have had me in mind. I wanted to be desirable, not easy prey. Annie stiffened when she felt fingers massage her shoulder. She whipped around and saw Rob (4th Captain of the Nest; a.k.a. Rooster). "I heard you breathing heavily. Knew you must have been fantasizing about me; time to make that fantasy come true," he cockily revealed. Annie tried to back away, but Rob just followed. Annie knew that Rob had selective hearing, and wouldn't understand no; so she sprinted down the hallways.

Her occupied mind had no time to think which twists and turns she was taking, cause she ended at a dead end. Rob was right behind her, enjoying the game of hard to get. "Annie, no one has ever turned me down. And you'll soon see why." She was terrified. Lips were against her unresponding lips, lips that then went down her neck and to her shoulder. Annie instinctively reacted by using her telekinetic abilities to throw him across the hall.

She sunk down to the ground from exhaustion. Her hysterical screams, that came when Rob got up with furious eyes, brought a small crowd. Not that most of those Evolites would have helped her, she was only a 6th Captain. They were there for the show. Oh, not that Annie could have been raped in front of their eyes. No, everything that would happen would be her fault, for she seduced and abused Rob. Finally someone showed Rob to the medical office, and a hand was extended to help Annie get up.

Annie thanked the individual, and was horrified when she noticed who it was. Her terror returned ten-fold. It was Colonel Draco of the Clan of the Scale. She tried to shake it off, and Draco offered to escort her back to her room. His tone suggested he wouldn't be persuaded to leave her alone, so she nervously assented. Annie struggled to breathe as Draco made small talk. Draco was known for being extremely territorial, and since he was a Colonel, anything Annie did do would be futile. While he was more subtle then Rob or Neil or even Russ (3rd General of Pisces; a.k.a. Walrus) had been today, his intentions were unmistakable. When they reached her room, Draco tried to get himself in as well. Annie claimed, "I'm very tired right now, and I shortly have an appointment with Tara. So now is not good. Maybe sometime in the future." Draco's deep and rough voice threatened, "I'll hold you to that. Rest well, for you will need it when I visit again one week from today. And I will be very disappointed if you are busy then as well. Farewell." And Draco left Annie alone in her room.

Annie used her telekinetic powers to slam the door. She then threw herself on her bed and started to cry furiously. There wasn't any way to protect herself from him. While this would buy Annie freedom from unwanted attention from other Evolites, she would be one of Draco's possessions. The only way she could escape his motives would be to earn the protection of either Fauna, or a Colonel. Not even Tara could protect her this time. Fauna didn't care one way or the other about Annie. And none of the Colonels would bother. What I need is a knight to slay the dragon and save me, the princess. If only the Monarch cared for me the way I care for him. Then I wouldn't be in this mess. If only…

But Annie couldn't depend on that, so she stifled her tears long enough to write a note to Warvus, begging for him to clear this up. She would ask Leika to deliver it later. That could be the only thing to save her. Years ago, Fauna had instated the following rule: 'A maiden Evolite remains one as long as she desires, and to take that away from her is automatic persecution. But after she ceases to be a maiden, any male Evolite is allowed to become her lover if she is not spoken for.' Fauna often left this open to interpretation during specific incidents. Warvus was Annie's only hope to prove that she was still a maiden. Still, if only…

Warvus had received Annie's letter, and was surprised about the rumors. He personally didn't think it made any difference one way or the other. But the plaintive tone made him decide to intervene. Gossip didn't harm anyone, but it wouldn't hurt to try and help Annie. He finally crawled out of his room, since playing his music had really drained him. The various lounges would be the best place to start, since that was where the majority of the Evolites hung out.

But once Warvus started his attempts at explanations, the only responses were, "How was she?" or "Stop trying to protect her honor; the Ant doesn't have any." Warvus was disappointed; in his heart he had always believed that the truth persevered over deceit. But lately that belief was getting severely battered. Fauna's rule that was made years ago protected virgin girls, but once they lost their innocence, they were open game. And Annie was one of the few female Evolites that was of an appealing age that had still been a maiden, causing her to be desirable now that she was thought to have lost maidenly status. If they knew the truth, then the pigs would stop harassing her. Warvus ended up sending a note back to Annie, for visiting her room would only feed the rumors. He sent his regrets that his attempts failed. Warvus then ate alone in his room, his favorite delectable tasted bitter. Not even rutaya could shake off his disappointment.

Celeste greeted her guests outside her building and led them up the stairs, for the elevator couldn't comfortably fit twelve people. Once they reached the 10th floor, Celeste unlocked the door. She told everyone to leave their towels and bags by the door and walked them over to the living room. There were streamers and a stereo, which Celeste immediately flipped on. The room was vibrating slightly from the music. "This is a cool place," complemented Lita. Celeste had pushed the furniture in the large room off to the sides, allowing room for dancing or whatever. Serena grabbed Darien, and the two of them started dancing to the party music. Soon everyone was in a big circle, dancing their own movements, and taking turns showing off their moves in the center. It was fun comparing styles and movements, but after so long, everyone wanted a break, so Celeste turned down the volume. She showed them where the kitchen was, where a spread of snack food was spread on the counter. At everyone's urging, Celeste gave a tour of her home. She had saved her rooms last. Her playroom was next to the study and was full of skylights. The walls were painted blues and had a television, video games, a computer with internet access, a surround sound stereo, her own private phone line, a couch, and everything else a teenager wants in their room.

Celeste then allowed the group of people to enter her bedroom. "This looks like Hotaru's room!" exclaimed Rini, who went on to describe the dark room full of lamps. But Celeste's room wasn't identical to Hotaru's. There was a door to go out on the deck, long white curtains covering the only natural light source. The walls were white, and there was only various simple desk lamps when Celeste needed to go in that area, for there was no overhead light. Her huge queen size bed was snow white with black pillows and covered with stuffed animals. The thing that made Celeste's room resemble Hotaru's was that all around were stools with slide projectors. On the walls were projected slides taken of the sky.

Amy exclaimed, "This is amazing. Where did you get all these pictures?" Mina commented, "She probably photographed them herself." Celeste gave Mina a look, "Yes, I did take these photographs. I like taking pictures of landscapes, they just seem more sincere than models. And on my travels, I've seen some beautiful days where the sky is such amazing colors or the clouds have some curious shapes." Celeste then walked next to one of the slide projectors and clicked it. "The best thing is that if I get tired of one specific image, I can always change it." Raye demanded, "Just how many slides do you have?" Celeste looked sheepish as she answered, "About a thousand are in the projectors, and about 5 times as many stored in my drawers." They all gaped, when Amara queried, "And how many pictures would you say you had to take to get all these slides?" Celeste made some quick calculations before responding, "There were about twenty thousand I've rejected in the past five years." Celeste then halted any further questions. "I have party favors for you guys." She walked to the night stand by her bed and grabbed the bagful of goodies. She then motioned for them to return to the living room. She then handed out little jewelry boxes that had tags labeling who got which. Everyone gasped as they opened their gifts. Rings engraved with the symbol of the planet they were born under (based on their birth date), their zodiac sign, and two or three symbols showing their elements. On the inside of the rings were a phrase that was highly individual. After berating Celeste for the expense of the gifts, everyone slipped on their rings.

The Monarch Butterfly had become depressed since discovering last night that Annie wasn't as innocent as he liked to believe. His solution to his woes was indulging in alcohol, which in turn led him to indulge in women. M was entertaining Iris (4th Captain of the Swarm; a.k.a. Firefly), when a projected image of Fauna barged in. Iris made hasty attempts to hide herself in the sheets, while M glared at the image. The image made disapproving noises, but a smirk developed when it noticed the pain in Butterfly's eyes. "Monarch Butterfly, make yourself presentable. I require your services, and I need you here promptly," the image ordered. The image then developed a cruel glint in its eye, "And Iris, I thought your tastes ran towards those of a certain body type. I feel hurt, for you lied to me about that." Iris blushed, and licked her lips. The image then disappeared.

M went to putting on his uniform. Iris scolded, "You could have told me you weren't female when you offered to show me your room." Monarch retorted, "I didn't think my masculinity was in question. Besides, you didn't seem to mind a moment ago." Iris stuck out her tongue, and got herself untangled from the sheets, and went in search of her clothes that were lost somewhere in the room. Neither went through the niceties of changing in a different room, nor were they dressing in front of the other to get a reaction.

Finally Iris said, "I really didn't have much choice. You are my Colonel." "But you did. And besides, I was stinking drunk." "You really know how to flatter a girl. And no, I didn't. You may not abuse your rank the way other Colonels do, but if I claimed rape, everyone would look the other way. They would say that I 'was looking for a change in pace, and seduced her superior.' You may be a man, but in some ways you are as naïve as a little boy." The Monarch changed the subject slightly by saying, "I didn't know you weren't attracted to men." Iris exclaimed, "Then you must have been the only damn one on this entire ship! We aren't just your underlings. We're people too. Our whole existence doesn't revolve around stealing Futures, as much as Fauna would like to believe otherwise."

The Monarch brushed off his uniform and coolly responded, "I'll remember that in the future." He then walked to the door and said, "I'd appreciate if you didn't linger in my room. This isn't something I plan on repeating. And would you mind keeping this under wraps?" Iris snorted her assent as she buttoned up her blouse.

The Monarch made his way to Fauna's wing, hoping she wouldn't want the type of favors he feared. He wasn't sure what he would do if someone brought up Annie one more time. The Monarch had convinced himself that he loved Annie, but maybe it was just infatuation. He felt rage when he thought of Warvus and Annie together. He had always liked Warvus well enough, and Annie seemed so sweet and innocent and different from everyone onboard. But Butterfly couldn't figure out if his rage was directed at Warvus, Annie, himself, or just his situation. He shook his head, trying to fling out his frustration.

The Monarch Butterfly was relieved when he saw that Fauna wasn't alone, not that she didn't have some fetishes that required multiple partners, but she was possessive over M. "Ah, you've finally decided to make an appearance. I'm sorry to have torn you away from your bed, but we have a mission to fulfill." It was then that M noticed the other person was Snail (5th General of the Swarm; m.c.k.a. Natalie). "Due to the Swarm's past errors, I have taken the liberty of setting this mission up myself. Snail shall go and get this person's Future, which I have marked and have told her where she is. There is a specially developed phuter spray that doesn't require the victim's guard to be down. It is quite difficult to create, and very expensive. Monarch, all you need to do is be the anchor; you don't even need to get a Petty Minion. We will attack at 1700 exactly, understand?"

Both the Monarch and Snail understood. Snail left to get her supplies, while Fauna indicated for the Monarch to stay. "I know about your little crush on Annie. And I do not approve, especially after her fling with Warvus. Really, why set your standards so low as to have a girl who beds with a mistake of nature like Warvus? Forget about her. I on the other hand care deeply for you, and perhaps you wouldn't mind seeing a demonstration of my passion," Fauna suggestively teased M. She soon got him to bend to her will. Annie, this is only the beginning of my wrath. He will soon not be capable of so much as looking at another woman without desiring me. I'm the only one he can love. Only me. And Fauna giggled not only to her thoughts, but with what was happening to her body.

"Marco!" "Polo!" "Marco!" "Polo!" There was a silence before Raye exclaimed, "Fish out of water!" "Rats," complained Hotaru. Hotaru returned to the water, closed her eyes and counted to twenty. Celeste and Trista were basking in the sunlight, watching the water game with amusement. "This is such a beautiful spot. Why is it that no one else is using it?" Trista wondered. "The people on floors two through five use the ground floor pool. Those of us who live on the sixth up to the tenth use this one," Celeste replied, indicating the pool on top of the complex. Celeste started laughing with everyone else as Hotaru ran into Darien. She then commented, "Darien, you must be living every guy's dream. Here you are alone with eleven hotties in bathing suits." Both Hotaru and Darien blushed, while Serena started to hang on Darien's arm. Amara reminded Serena that Darien was 'it'. Celeste just smiled as she turned over onto her back and slipped on her sunglasses.

"Michelle, would you mind racing me?" Amy modestly questioned. Michelle assented. Everyone else got out of the pool and started to make bets about who'd win. "Who do you think will win, Celeste?" Rini asked. Celeste noted the two in the water and came to one conclusion. "It will be a tie. While Michelle is older and appears to be more athletic, Amy seems to be more passionate. I can't say who, but if I'm wrong, it is bound to be very close," she announced. "Would one set of IM be alright?" Michelle suggested. Hotaru asked Lita, "What is IM?" "Stands for individual medley." "What is an individual medley?" Raye cut in, "It is means a mixed event. Usually it is one lap butterfly, then backstroke, then breaststroke, and then freestyle." "Oh."

Just as they were about to start the race, a pair of figures stood at the edge of the pool. One was a cute little light brown haired girl, the other a hunky upperclassman that had the same light brown hair. "Celeste, I'm almost done with your ring. But I had to take a break, and Jess insisted on chaperoning me," Lexie greeted. She then hopped in the pool with an impressive cannon ball. Jess spoke for Lexie with, "I'm sorry for her behavior. And are we interrupting something?" Celeste shook her head, "No, just a get together with some friends. But the more, the merrier."

The race was then ready to begin again, Jess making a seat beside Celeste and Lexie taking a sudden worship of Raye. Celeste noticed a pair of hands on hers as Amy and Michelle made a neck in neck first turn. She entwined her fingers around Jess's and took off her sunglasses. Just as Amy and Michelle reached their last lap, their was a tremble that shook all the bystanders into the water. Except Lexie.

"This is the runt I'm suppose to target? Despicable. Here brat, stay still!" ordered Snail. Snail then grabbed Lexie around the neck and conjured the special phuter spray. With the spray in hand, she aimed at Lexie. But Jess didn't agree with Snail's plans, who had gotten out of the water and hurled himself at Snail. Snail saw this, and ducked slowly out of his way, causing his momentum to crash him into the pavement. Snail just sneered, and then sprayed Lexie. Lexie screamed in pain, pain that was echoed by Celeste. Lexie's screams died down when the aura of her bright future appeared, but Celeste continued to writhe in pain, unable to climb out of the pool. Snail was too intent on peering at the aura to notice that eleven figures climbed out of the pool and ducked behind the elevator shaft/pool house.

"Interesting," muttered Snail, after she saw what Lexie's Bright Future was. A wire hoop appeared on the pavement by her feet, where a figure appeared. "Petty Minion Banana Slug, stay still. I'm going to transfuse the mist into you." She proceeded to conjure up the Bright Fate Dimmer. Snail put the speaker part to her ear and placed the rest of the device beside Lexie. A coiled cord held the two pieces together. She dialed 'Alexandria Hewitt' which caused the device to make rumbling noises. Snail grew anxious as she spoke into the speaker clearly, "CEO and designer for TimeLoops Associates." Lexie's future was sucked up by the machine, her complexion gone a pasty white. Snail had a wicked smile as she said the alternate Future, "An insurance fraud who always looks for the loopholes in the system." Buttons were slammed down, and the machine processed this information, changing Lexie's guaranteed Bright Future into a fate that brings shame.

The Bright Fate Dimmer was then aimed at Banana Slug, and the fate was in a compact ball that was shot out of the device and absorbed by Banana Slug. Lexie's heavy breathing ceased. All this occurred in under a minute. Snail then gave Banana Slug the following orders, "Destroy the weakling on the pavement. I have a horde of privilege marks waiting for me to spend them. Don't come back until he is dead!" And Snail exited.

While this was going on, the senshi had run off to transform, too busy to notice that Celeste was also in pain. Luna, Artemis, and Diana were the ones left to drag out the semi-conscious body out of the pool. How they managed to pull someone that size out of a pool without drowning themselves or her, while she was thrashing in pain, is a mystery. But this wasn't that important. What mattered was Lexie had no Future at the moment, and would die within the next six hours without it. Unless her Future was returned, but even then it wouldn't be the bright one that shone for her. While the senshi didn't realize that the situation was that complicated, they still knew that rescuing Lexie was imperative. They had all transformed, the inner scouts curious as to how the outer senshi had become super Sailors, and rushed back to the scene. They introduced themselves, but weren't really noticing how Banana Slug was building up a thicker coat of shiny slime. And the senshi attacked, figuring that if the Petty Minion was destroyed, the Future would return to its rightful holder. However, Banana Slug shook off all the attacks that most of the senshi had used (Mercury and Sailor Moon and Mini Moon didn't attack).

"Am I the only one to notice something is seriously wrong with this?" Venus demanded. Banana Slug stated, "My turn!" and blasted the gross slime that covered his body onto the senshi (which is including Tuxedo Mask). They screamed, "Ah!" and "Ew!" as they were flung against the elevator shaft, where they were all attached to the walls. "Saturn, use the Silent Glaive!" ordered Uranus. "I would if I could actually move my arms." All the senshi were covered by this disgusting type of yellow green mucus that covered everything but the tips of their toes and their heads. "We can't attack without arm and leg movement," complained Mars. Banana Slug taunted them, and then started throwing his relatively weak attacks against them, attacks that were at about the same strength as Mini Moon's Pink Sugar attack. The senshi struggled, called for help, and yelled at Tuxedo Mask the moment he started one of his impossible to understand speeches. They had no hope whatsoever. It seemed that the villains would actually win, something they never seriously believed would happen.

I've got to get there in time. I need to stop the pain, and tell the truth. Half-ignorance is far worse than full ignorance. Speed is essential, and I am in real need of some quickness. Hurry!

Start playing song: "Heaven On Earth" performed by Belinda Carlisle.

A flutter was all that betrayed the silent wings. The mind opened itself up to the impact of the pain and shut heavy barriers down. The barriers would last so long as the power it was trying to keep in didn't overwhelm them. Phoebe felt as if she was trying to build a dam against a flood, and her only materials were pebbles. Lexie was beyond experiencing pain, and this barrier would prevent Celeste from sharing it. For now. Celeste's fully coming into her powers was approaching faster than expected. Phoebe didn't want to weaken the shields she just put up by direct telepathy. She knew there was someone else more capable of getting Celeste to become aware of her powers. Luna.

Phoebe waited for the trio of cats to have Celeste on stable ground before sending a cautious wisp of thought. #Luna?# Luna whirled around, "Who said that?" "Said what, mother?" asked Diana. #Your above average friendly pigeon. I appreciate you not trying to have eaten me. I'm pleased to see the advisors from Mau are relatively civilized. I need your help.# "Phoebe?" Luna tentatively asked, oblivious to the stares her future husband and daughter gave her. "Nod your head to prove it!" Phoebe obliged, a glint shining in the deceivingly simple eyes. The glint disappeared when Phoebe thought #We don't have much time. Despite your realization that you aren't the only intelligent non-human in the world is amusing, Celeste must be awakened.# "What do you mean awakened?"

#Celeste is the Solar Sailor, the senshi of the sun. Do you remember a princess who visited the moon quite often, and had a rare astral phoenix for a familiar?# Luna gasped as she realized the memory of, "You are that astral phoenix? The one Queen Clarity of the Sol Kingdom's daughter brought with her on every visit. And you are saying that there has been a senshi right under my nose that I didn't know about?" #Yes. Her abilities have grown stronger than I can contain and 'talk' to her directly. She has partial knowledge of who you all are, and won't be surprised when you talk to her. But she is the only one powerful enough that is accessible at the moment. Just tell her to raise her arm and call out "Sol's Hellenic Power!"#

"Whatever you say. But is she still in pain?" That was answered instantly, for Celeste woke up from her delirium and gasped in horror. "How did this happen?" she whispered. I've got to do something. But I can't. Mina and the girls are Sailor Senshi, and I'm just an ordinary girl. I've got to do something. But what? "It doesn't matter what I do, cause any action is better than this indecision. I'll just have to do what it takes." She tried to muster up strength to sit up, but she was still weak from the pain. Luna spoke, "Spoken like a true senshi. I've had a recent wake up call, one that tells me you are also a senshi." Celeste glanced at Luna, her eyes drawn to the horror scene a few yards away. "Luna, I have no time for jokes. I appreciate that you decided to talk to me, but there is no way. There are no planets left in our Solar System. And I doubt I'm from another system." "You are right, there are no other planets. But you aren't a senshi of a planet, you are a senshi of the yellow sun. The Solar Sailor. Raise your arm and call out 'Sol's Hellenic Power!'"

Celeste looked at the trapped senshi, then Luna and said, "I'm not in a position to doubt you. I just hope for everyone's sake that you are right." Celeste raised her right arm and shouted "Sol's Hellenic Power" The engraving on the outside her white gold ring glowed. Engraving that showed the sign of the sun, leo, and symbols of light, truth, and growth. It was lifted off of her fingers, where the engraving on the inside was apparent: Sun Angel. Then warm light spread over her just as the sun shown late afternoon rays of light.

Celeste was no longer just Celeste. She was the Solar Sailor. On her shoulder was a rest for Phoebe, who had transformed along with Celeste into an astral phoenix.

Phoebe was the size of a large cat, her wingspan twice the length of her body. Her head was larger than in proportion, and had an odd feather that stood up. The beak was a soft yellow that curved slightly and came to a delicate point. Phoebe's overall color was a subdued-yellow-tinted light, seeming to be subdued for the Solar Sailor's sake. The form of the bird was hard to distinguish, the light and distinct ethereal effect, making it hard to see the bird in detail. But the clawed feet were unmistakably sharp. Phoebe's tail looked like it was three long trailing bent rainbows, and the tip of the wings looked like they brushed up against a spectrum of light.

And the Solar Sailor made her debut. "It's my turn to have the spotlight." She then rushed over to the other side of the elevator shaft, where Banana Slug continued his havoc. Oddly, it started to get dark rapidly, and the only light that could be seen were two pinpoints. They were the light shining from the Solar Sailor's eyes. Suddenly she was a washed in a glow coming from the astral phoenix as she grabbed their attention. "Guided by the radiance of the Sun, I am the Solar Sailor. In lieu of the ancient deities Apollo & Sol, I shall fight for the truth, potential growth, and internal light all creatures possess. And since you are trying to dowse this amazing girl's Bright Future, and you've harassed my friends, you shall pay. A dosage of Phoenix Wrath shall be a good started." Phoebe landed on Solar Sailor's shoulder, who whispers to Phoebe, "Time to show them our wrath." Solar Sailor glowed with a rainbow of light that is transferred into Phoebe. Phoebe takes flight towards the enemy, eyes briefly glowing red. Phoebe then attacks, using a combo of claws, beak, wings, and the light.

Solar Sailor slipped on her sunglasses and said "It's time to shine!" She then proceeds to shout "Sol's Internal Radiance!" The Solar Sailor sent a giant swirl of light headed towards Banana Slug, which bursted on impact. Light surrounds the entire area, drowning out all sight. As the light fades, it is obvious that the enemy is severely damaged, but anyone that the light came from is unharmed. Since the light came from Lexie, the senshi, Jess, the cats, Phoebe and herself, none of them are harmed, although the slime has melted. The Solar Sailor then takes off sunglasses with flare, and smiles at her handiwork.

But her confident smile faded as she continued her rescue. Solar Sailor took the Petal shield off her back and thrusted it into the ground. She then chants "Petal dome barrier", causing the Petal shield to become an impenetrable dome that surrounds Banana Slug, using it as a temporary prison.

She then turned to the amazed senshi. "What did you expect me to do, let Banana Slug roam wild while I help you out?" "You've helped us plenty," exclaimed Jupiter. "Anytime Lita." The senshi were surprised by this. "How did you know Jupiter's name is Lita?" demanded Mars. "I'll give you veterans one guess. Who else do you know has a bird that follows her around like a puppy?" Mina gasped as she recognized her friend. "Celeste, why didn't you tell me?" "Don't get on my case, I found out only a few moments ago. And there are more important things to discuss. Such as, how I'll power you up?" "What do you mean, power up?" asked Trista.

"Something I remember was that transformations could get maxed out after a strenuous fight. That is why your transformations have changed so much since last time I saw all of you." "What do you mean last time?" demanded Neptune. "We don't have time. Lexie will die if we don't get her future back soon. Apparently, you've maxed out these transformations. And I can't give you a new one in this form. I was given the ability to do so only with your original forms. Open up your hearts and trust what I'm doing."

The Solar Sailor held up her hands and sent out a gentle light that reversed all of their transformations, until they reached their original ones (except Tuxedo Mask of course, and oddly Mini Moon). It took longer for Sailor Moon to revert, for she had had the most upgrades. Finally she focused the light, using herself as a vessel for the sunlight from the horizon flowing through her. The sunlight then lit up each of the rings on everyone's hands, the engraving on both the inside and outside glowed as they transformed.

At this point I recommend visiting the transformation page at http://www.geocities.com/eeveon_girl/transformations.html for a complete list of the transformations and a general overview of how they look like.

Serena raised her right arm and shouted "Moon Hellenic Power!" The engraving on the outside her silver ring glowed. Engraving that showed the sign of the moon, cancer, and symbols of loyalty and the rabbit. It was lifted off of her fingers, where the engraving on the inside was apparent: Moon Rabbit. A few moments later, she was Sailor Moon, but a drastically different Sailor Moon.

Mina raised her right arm and shouted "Venus Hellenic Power!" The engraving on the outside her copper ring glowed. Engraving that showed the sign of venus, libra, and symbols of love and metal. It was lifted off of her fingers, where the engraving on the inside was apparent: Beauty of Love. Shortly she was Sailor Venus, but with a new spin.

Michelle raised her right arm and shouted "Neptune Hellenic Power!" The engraving on the outside her platinum ring glowed. Engraving that showed the sign of neptune, pisces, and symbols of the ocean and maternalism. It was lifted off of her fingers, where the engraving on the inside was apparent: Sea Queen. Shortly she was Sailor Neptune, with the now predictable change.

Rini raised her right arm and shouted "Fuchsia Angelic Moon Power!" The engraving on the outside her pink gold ring glowed. Engraving that showed the sign of the Moon, cancer, the earth and a symbol of the rabbit. It was lifted off of her fingers, where the engraving on the inside was apparent: Small Rabbit. Shortly she was Sailor Fuchsia Moon, a surprising turn of events. Unlike the rest of the senshi, she still wore a sailor fuku. However, she aged so that she was as old as the rest of the senshi, and just as powerful. Apparently, the anklet her mother made her wear reacted with the Solar Sailor's gift to still manage a new transformation for Rini. For Celeste came from the past, and wasn't granted abilities for those not born yet, so that's where the anklet came into play. This would hopefully enable Rini to be considered a full senshi.

Lita raised her right arm and shouted "Jupiter Hellenic Power!" The engraving on the outside her tin ring glowed. Engraving that showed the sign of jupiter, saggitarius, and symbols of wood and lightening. It was lifted off of her fingers, where the engraving on the inside was apparent: Wise Dryad. Soon she was Sailor Jupiter, with the new change.

Trista raised her right arm and shouted "Pluto Hellenic Power!" The engraving on the outside her palladium ring glowed. Engraving that showed the sign of pluto, scorpio, and symbols of time and death. It was lifted off of her fingers, where the engraving on the inside was apparent: Death Queen. Soon she was Sailor Pluto, with the new change.

Raye raised her right arm and shouted "Mars Hellenic Power!" The engraving on the outside her iron ring glowed. Engraving that showed the sign of mars, ares, and symbols of fire and warrior. It was lifted off of her fingers, where the engraving on the inside was apparent: Fire Spirit. And she was Sailor Mars, possessing the new spin.

Darien's bronze ring's outer engraving glowed. Engravings that showed the sign of earth, leo, and symbols of a rose and a warrior. It lifted off of his fingers, where the engraving on the inside was apparent: Earth Guardian. And Darien was Tuxedo Mask, although instead of his anime style clothes, his ensemble resembled the manga version more.

Amara raised her right arm and shouted "Uranus Hellenic Power!" The engraving on the outside her titanium ring glowed. Engraving that showed the sign of uranus, aquarius, and symbols of heaven and winds. It was lifted off of her fingers, where the engraving on the inside was apparent: Sky Queen. Soon she was Sailor Uranus, in her toga ensemble.

Amy raised her right arm and shouted "Mercury Hellenic Power!" The engraving on the outside her aluminum ring glowed. Engraving that showed the sign of mercury, virgo, and symbols of water and wisdom. It was lifted off of her fingers, where the engraving on the inside was apparent: Water's Friend. Momentarily she was Sailor Mercury, possessing her new style.

Hotaru raised her right arm and shouted "Saturn Hellenic Power!" The engraving on the outside her pewter ring glowed. Engraving that showed the sign of saturn, capricorn, and symbols of silence, destruction and agriculture. It was lifted off of her fingers, where the engraving on the inside was apparent: Dark Firefly. Soon she was Sailor Saturn, in her toga.

Stop playing song

Everyone moved around slightly, getting use to the drastically different outfits. Finally the Solar Sailor said, "Stop it. I've got something I need to do in order to get Lexie her Future back." "We just destroy Banana Slug, and then the aura will return to Lexie," an impudent Fuchsia Moon lectured. "True, but it wouldn't be Lexie's, it would be warped, and that is definitely not good. Don't worry about what I'm about to do. Phoebe will help out." She then focused her concentration and dismissed the Petal dome and quickly started her attack sequence.

"Ivy net!" the Solar Sailor shouted, causing a group of vines to grow from the ground. The vines braided into a net that shot towards the enemy, Solar Sailor's hands controlling the movement. The net surrounded and immobilized Banana Slug. "Ivy Drain!" the Solar Sailor then shouted, causing the net of vines to wrap tightly around Banana Slug, tight enough to force the stolen aura to the net. The net then whisked back to the Solar Sailor, who absorbed the net back into herself. She quickly redid the Petal dome, except it protected Jess and Lexie this time. A trance overcame her, necessary for her to neutralize/purify the aura.

"What do we do now?" whispered Venus to Pluto. "We question Banana Slug," Pluto responded. "And wake up the Solar Sailor!" exclaimed Fuchsia Moon. #No you don't! She must be in this trance. Banana Slug will be sluggish for a few minutes. Keep her warm and interrogate Banana Slug. The Solar Sailor must stay warm!# "Girls, was I the only one freaked out about some random voice in our head?" demanded Fuchsia Moon. She was relieved by the nods. It took Neptune to figure out that the voice was Phoebe, helping out like the Solar Sailor said she would. Mars, Venus, Sailor Moon, and Tuxedo Mask kept the Solar Sailor's body warm. The rest of the senshi tied up Banana Slug (after Venus used her Love Chain), threw him against the elevator shaft/pool house and demanded answers.

Senshi: Who are you?

B: Banana Slug, Petty Minion of the Evolites, drafted for the Swarm's use during this mission

Senshi: What is an Evolite?

B: Follower of her majesty

Senshi: Who is your majesty?

B: The Great Creator

Senshi: The what?

B: The Great Creator (Indignantly)

Senshi: What is the Swarm?

B: One of our exulted leader's ten Clans

Senshi: What are the Clans?

B: The Swarm, Hoof, Scale, Pisces, Serpents, Nest, Den, Whisker, Cave, and Lair. The ten factions of Her fighters. Generals and Captains each belong to a Clan; and of course the Colonels, who head each Clan. Petty Minions like myself don't officially belong to a Clan, but are generally associated with a specific Clan.

Senshi: So Snail is the general?

B: The 5th General of the Clan of the Swarm. There are four other Generals who outrank her in the Clan of the Swarm.

Senshi: And each Clan has five Generals?

B: No way. Some have as few as three. It depends on the specific Clan. There is usually one Colonel, except in the Clan of the Den. And there is at least as many Captains as there are Generals in each Clan.

Senshi: What rank are Snail, Beetle, and Scorpion?

B: Let me think for a moment. Snail is the lowest of the Generals in the Swarm, so she is the 5th. Beetle is the 7th Captain of the Swarm, making him barely above me. And Scorpion is… the 4th General. Couldn't remember if he outranked Wasp or not.

Senshi: Why are the Evolites here?

B: To take and/or taint Bright Futures

Senshi: Why?

B: Cause that is what her majesty ordered.

Senshi: What does she want with Bright Futures?

B: I don't know. Not sure I wanna know. I don't dare ask, I enjoy having my hide attached to my body. Now let me go, I have a chore to finish. Otherwise I'll be persecuted.

Uranus halted him with, "Nuh uh. You have us to answer to, and you ought to fear our power." "You mean those little illusions. I'm so scared. Please. I have more power in my pinky toe than you Sailor wimps have altogether." "I wouldn't push us, slime bucket!" warned Jupiter. Banana Slug went on to make an inappropriate comment about Jupiter's bust line and how it was too distracting to listen to her. Jupiter went on to use her new attack. She glared before shutting her eyes and raising her arms to the sky. She then said "Jupiter Storm Needles." Jupiter slammed a load of pine needles at Banana Slug. While they hit him so he was temporarily pinned up against the elevator shaft/pool house, just as Jupiter aimed, the attack caused an insignificant amount of damage. This made the senshi wonder about the benefits of the Solar Sailor's gift. She gave them a new transformation, but a relatively strong senshi had a puny attack. None of them realized that Jupiter Storm Needles was a hundred percent accurate attack, something that can at times be more valuable than power. But then again, it was their first experience with the newest attacks, and it wasn't an all that difficult of an angle to manage.

Banana Slug then surprised them with another, although weaker, exposure to his grotesque slime. The senshi that were by the Solar Sailor weren't within range, but the other's were not happy about the inhibiting of their movements. Saturn then tried her newest attack; she breathed the words "Whisper Daggers." Mist like daggers went flying at Banana Slug. The Banana Slug hit them at the ground, momentarily stalling the attack. But the daggers floated a little and went back to flying at him. All but one hit him, causing mediocre damage, but it wasn't nearly as strong as Saturn's usual attacks. The stray dagger flew towards Jess. The senshi were dismayed until Saturn whispered, "stop." The dagger immediately dissipitated. Luckily for Jess, Saturn knew that the only way to actually stop her attack was a whispered command. Hence the reason why the attack was known as Whisper Daggers. But Saturn and Jupiter weren't the only ones to try attacks that didn't quite push Banana Slug over to the great beyond.

Celeste hazily woke up. Celeste, not the Solar Sailor. She noticed she was in a beautiful gown that made her feel and look like princess. She glanced at her surroundings and was mildly surprised. There was a hideous red head who had shadows of what was once a great beauty. She was shooting power at a dome, a dome of power that was about half dark purple and half a silver white. A dome that surrounded Celeste. The other person feeding the power dome was a regal woman with enchanting blue eyes and snowy hair in an odd set of pigtails. They are both royalty of a sort. Queens, actually. Beryl and Serenity. Beryl is trying to gain access to the powers I can unlock. Queen Serenity is trying to protect me. No, I never called her Queen. Not even at the most formal of occasions.

Celeste then realized that whoever fully closed the dome would be the one who won, for shutting the dome would cut off the other's power. There was an audience in the stands, many of whom she recognized. While Beryl was gaining a boost of power from her subordinates, those that Celeste knew were members of the Moon court sat as if they were watching a television show. They were worst than nothing, for they didn't even cheer Serenity on. That was when she realized the consequences if Serenity lost. But why am I the one they are fighting over? Others have my abilities. And why is no one helping Serenity? I can see her wavering, faltering under those evil lackeys' power. I've got to do something.

Celeste then mustered up power from her reserves and shouted, "Don't give up! You can do this. I believe you have what it takes, and I will not lose faith in you. Too much is at stake. Let me help." Celeste then tried to focus her power towards Serenity, but the half domes weren't allowing her power to filter out to the competitors. But Serenity had put forth a new surge of power into her half of the dome.

Celeste glanced around the sky and saw the millions of stars in the sky, and she saw a glimpse of the sun. Reflexively she pulled power from the major sources, parts of her heritage. She then concentrated not on giving the power to Serenity, but blasting the raw stuff directly at Beryl; her reserves remained untapped, for she was too busy using herself as a vessel to add her own meager in comparison energy. The raw energy shattered Beryl's half of the dome, allowing Serenity to complete the dome. But the energy continued to destroy all of Beryl's minions and brought Beryl to near death. The dome was then dispelled, and Celeste ran to Serenity's open arms. They embraced, and nothing needed to be said. Celeste closed her eyes, wanting to just be nothing but part of the hug. When she opened her eyes again, she saw the crowd gone, and the once beautiful surroundings of the Moon were gone.

There was only herself, Serenity, and the ruins of what was once Celeste's second home. Celeste looked at one of the most prominent figures in her life and asked, "What happened?" Serenity smiled, but its warmth wasn't there, her eyes were distant. "It doesn't matter. The past is the past, and I am in no position to change it. Only the Golden Scriptures could." Those words seemed to mean something that meant much to Celeste, but she couldn't remember. "What are those?" Serenity looked sadly at her, "You seem to have lost your way. The Golden Scriptures are the only thing that can survive time itself and its many cycles. Everything is a cycle, your mother taught you that, didn't she?"

Celeste wanted to affirm that, but her mother said nothing of the sort. Jasmine Aglaia felt that things were constantly changing, not repeating. But Celeste knew that wasn't who she was talking about. Someone else. But Celeste couldn't remember who, and didn't think it was polite to bring up that fact. "I believe so, Serenity." Serenity's smile came back, but this time it had touches of warmth and her eyes were back to the present. "You never would succumb to formalities. Some day you shall learn those much needed diplomatic skills. But that is something in the future. The past doesn't need to be changed, but the Golden Scriptures are needed for the future. Find them, you are the only one who knows where they are."

Celeste didn't understand, for how could she know. They were something she didn't even remember what purpose they served. Celeste wanted to say something more, but she felt herself dragged somewhere. "Serenity, don't let me go! I have more to ask you." "I'll see you soon. You are the only one who seems to visit me. I look forward to your next visit. Farewell." Serenity waved her hand as she faded from Celeste's sight. Celeste knew she was being drawn to the sky, but when she turned around, she was being pulled into the yellow sun. She screamed, for no one could survive it; but that was something she did just for show. A wave a calmness came to her as she felt the wisps of light greet her with their warmth.

The Solar Sailor instantly woke up, realizing that what she just experienced was a dream. No, not a dream; they were visions from her trance. That was when she remembered little facts. Like why she called the moon her second home, and her relationship to Serenity. But there were more important things to deal with. Solar was a little disoriented, but she shook it off as soon as she could. There was Lexie to salvage. By the look of the stars, she guessed it was after six. She had been in the trance for a little less than an hour. There was still time. The Solar Sailor had no idea how she knew that if Lexie didn't get her future back soon she would die. That didn't matter. What mattered was that Lexie got her future back now. Solar did the third part in her ivy sequence, Ivy Replenishment. She said "Ivy Replenishment." The net appeared again, this time appearing around Lexie. It lied down on top of the victim like a blanket. Solar Sailor and the vines glowed a gray light, obviously Solar Sailor was brighter and the vines were dimmer. But gradually the vines brighten as Solar Sailor dims. Soon, all the gray light, the aura, was in the vines that then were absorbed by the victim. Solar Sailor falls onto knees from exhaustion. And she was grateful to have saved Lexie.

But she was stifling a comment as she saw that the senshi had failed to defeat Banana Slug. They need time to shift into their new powers she berated herself. There was self assurance that she could defeat the enemy alone, but she knew that the senshi had to gain confidence in their own powers. Though this is what Sailor Moon should have been doing. I acknowledge her power, but her leadership skills don't seem to be noteworthy. A true leader would have held back, giving her team a chance to feel confident about their own power. No wonder why the outer senshi are supposedly more powerful. They didn't depend on Sailor Moon to save them from weaklings like Banana Slug.

The Solar Sailor did quick calculations before speaking up, for all the senshi had been so absorbed by the ongoing problem of Banana Slug that they failed to notice her handiwork. "Neptune, use your attack. This freak is associated with slugs, and slugs hate salt. So use a salt water attack!" she called out. Neptune affirmed while the rest of the senshi looked slightly stunned, for that was what Mercury generally did. But that thought was lost when Neptune said, "I think I'll shake things up a bit," followed by her yelling "Neptune Tidal Wave!" A small wave with massive power, and little accuracy, headed vaguely in Banana Slug's direction. He was too slow to dodge it, but the attack only partially hit. Still, the explosion of water severly weakened him. But no one was up to following up that attack, no one but Mercury.

Sailor Mercury touched the compass at her neck and shouted "Mercurial Winter Hail!" Since Mercury had save up her power until now, she put everything she had into that attack. And that extra energy made it worth it, for this attack varies highly on the user's power at the moment. A rain of baseball size hail was directed at Banana Slug. He flinched as each bit of hail hit him, freezing the icky coating on his skin. And he oddly shriveled up and became dust.

"Maybe there is something to these new powers if Mercury can do something like that!" exclaimed Venus. Looks were shot at Venus, indicating she said something rude, but they knew that was what they were thinking. Even the Solar Sailor had been surprised by Mercury's burst of strength. "Quench my curiosity. How did you do that?" Mercury modestly replied, "I thought of salt."

Puzzled looks were exchanged, when Solar exclaimed, "I get it! Salt disolved in water creates a solution. And since solutions make the boiling point rise and the freezing point drop, your ice was colder than usual. That and slugs' vulnerability to salt." At the continued bewildered looks from everyone but Tuxedo Mask, Mercury, Pluto, and Neptune, she commented, "Look at a chemistry book sometime. I'm too tired to think chemistry or senshi business. We'll de-transform, bring Lexie and Jess back to their apartment, and head to the carnival. I refuse to forfeit our plans, and I also refuse to talk senshi or scientifically." Grudgingly, everyone did as she suggested, for she had a way of persuading people. Probably it was her iron will, which wouldn't bend under any external circumstances. But also it had to do with her ability to rationalize and see everything so clearly.

Everyone but she had de-transformed, for she loved the feel of being a sailor senshi. They all smiled indulgently, knowing just how she felt. So it was only Solar who was there when Snail made her belated return. Solar wanted to fight, but Phoebe insisted her declination. She had only come into her powers, and that wasn't enough to beat a Petty Minion, so there was no reason why she should have been able to defeat a General. Snail grumbled and picked up the Bright Fate Dimmer. Celeste finally became her alter ego and contemplated what she had learned today. It was enough to make her head spin. And she was pleasantly surprised to learn that Phoebe talked to her even when she wasn't a senshi and Phoebe an astral phoenix. But she felt reality kick her in the pants; Celeste didn't know everything, much as she and everyone else liked to believe it. She was a teenager like the rest of the senshi, and a lot less experienced. But Celeste had a feeling there was something significant she had to do for the senshi. Something that only she could do. But that was another path of enlightenment that evaded her grasp. Celeste giggled when she heard her name being called by the others, for she had finally found a group of true friends.

Fauna put down the whip in her hand, feeling that Snail had suffered enough. This beating should build character in this potential protégé. Character badly needed. She then ordered Snail to get out within the next five seconds, taking pleasure as Snail struggled out, her pain and wounds limiting her to a dragging crawl. A thirty year old coffee house manager who will start a social revolution with her world wide chain of coffee shops. A deaf and mute genius who will make discoveries about nerve cells and the voice box to enable working artificial voice boxes that respond to nerve messages. And a blunt little girl who will create an industrial empire based on watches on rings. All that these have in common is that they are Futures that remain Bright. The Swarm shall sit out, which suits me just fine. The Monarch shouldn't have his mind divided between me and bumbling idiots. And these Sailor Senshi, they seem to be more important than I thought. I'll ask Derek about them tomorrow. Especially about the Solar Sailor. She must play a significant part in things. Still, who would of thought of Futures such as the ones we've encountered?

Me. Sorry, I just had to respond to my cliffhanger ending comment. A weird pattern I've noticed. It seems that so far, each episode is significantly longer than the last. Don't kill me. I'm hoping the next one will be short and sweet. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the first four chapters of the Solar Revolution. I am really proud of this episode. Sorry for those of you who are thinking: It took four episodes to introduce the Solar Sailor… man this is going to drag on forever. But trust me, each episode is made with lots of love and effort. Well that's all I've got to say. Remember, E-mail is always welcome ([email protected]).
