Esbats are our working days and nights. These are the times of the full and new moons. These are times for joyful and powerful group or solitary workings.
These are times to honor the Goddess essence of the Divine. This balances the Sabbat festivals which generally honor the God essence. This does not by any means mean you cannot include the Gods in your ceremonial rituals. However, these holidays are associated with the Moon where the Sabbats are associated with the Sun.
This is a time to conjure spells for specific useses. Some witches believe it will take a full cycle of the moon to see results from these others do not. Regardless of your timing the importance is your intent. As with all spells remember to let go and let your magick work.
These are the Moon festivals broken down for you...

* New Moon- Good time to consecrate new tools or objects you would like to use during ritual or upcoming festival. This is a time used for personal growth, healing and blessing new projects or ventures.

* Waxing Moon <1st Quarter Moon> - Between the new and full moon is the period called the waxing moon. This is a time for attraction magick, a time to bring things to you. This is a good time for love spells, protection for couples and anything relationship geared.

* Full Moon- This is a time for banishing unwanted influences. You may create protection magick and divination easily during this period. This is a time to get rid of habits that you no longer want to hold on to. It is common belief that you can perform Full Moon magick for 3 days prior and 3 days after the actual Full Moon.

* Waning Moon- This is the period between the full and dark moon. This is used for banishing and rejecting things we find negative. Emotions, diseases, habits, ailments can all be let go during this time easily.

* Dark Moon- This phase occurs during the 3 days prior to the New Moon. This is typically a time where no magick is performed and used for meditation and replenishing your energy. As with everything you will find here however this is only my opinion:)
