HOW COULD SHE?

Three little faces a nation searched for in vain,
While each mother cried wolf with nothing to gain.
   How could she?

Three precious souls leave families in grief,
While the whole world watches in sickening disbelief.
   How could she?

One little face, Christina by name,
was battered and bruised and then hidden in shame.
   How could she?

Two little faces, precious baby boys,
Michael and Alex, we saw playing with toys.
   How could she?

Three little faces crying out in fear,
For the mother whom they loved so dear.
   How could she?

Three little faces look down from Above,
All once filled with trust and love,
   How could she?

Three little angels in Heavenly skies,
Now ask God with questioning eyes.....
   How could she?

Three little souls, now in Heaven you are free,
but the question is still unanswered.....
   How could she?

THE FRIENDSHIP CANDLE

We met as strangers, but soon became friends,
not knowing how soon our friendship ends,
We talked about our future dreams
and current events were our themes

Unknown to us was a darkened cloud,
hovering above us waiting to enshroud.
For the life of one was like a candle glowing,
And would soon be snuffed out with death's breath blowing.

Yet in the midst of the suffering and pain,
She smiled and said "It's my time, I can't complain,
For God is calling, He needs me up there,
I've done all I can do on this earth down here.

I would like to stay, but the deed is done,
I have to go, the race is run."
So even though the end is near
don't be sad, and don't you fear
for a wonderful friend you have been to me
and in your heart keep my memory,

So please don't sorrow at my passing
Your friendship to me has been a blessing."
I wrote this poem as a eulogy to a close friend of my daughter's who died from cancer.
This poem was written after the murder of these children by their parents.  In both cases the mothers reported their children as being kidnapped.  The two little boys had been strapped in the back seat of their mothers car, and she rolled the car into a lake, watching the car sink.  The little girl was beaten to death by her mothers boyfriend and then hidden in a closet for several days while they reported her kidnapped from a flea market.  She was found buried in an empty lot.
