God's Little Swimmers

Through the oceans
And the boundless seas,
God's little swimmers
Reach out to me.

I put out my arms
To say hello
But they just keep swimming
Nearly three meters below.

I was not pleased
At all with this,
So I got out my pole
And began to fish.

I threw the reel
And as the line went out
It sank in the water
And was yanked by a trout.

I pulled and tugged
And brought her in,
Then I threw her in the boat
And took it as a win.

Then I looked once more
At what was to be my dinner,
But when I thought about it
I couldn't kill one of God's little swimmers.

So I threw her back
Knowing I'd have no dinner
But for some reason I felt blessed
After I released one of God's little swimmers.
