I'm trained in an art that nobody wants
Have I done for you what you've done for me?
Life may be a game but no-one holds the dice
I'm down the same snake once again

I've trusted that art since I was seventeen
Is the canvas too frail from their repeated strokes?
Is it time to stand back and let the watercolour dry
And find a new brush once again

You could shape and mould the sky
Make the clouds turn black and cry
Roll back the hills and turn the tide
Dig valleys deep and swell rivers wide
You could even just pass the time
With a smile that lets the sun shine

An 80 foot wave may engulf the crew and ship
But she will set sail once again.

          5) Comments about this poem:
This poem was written especially for one of my great friends on her birthday, as I couldn't afford a gift for her. I guess it's mostly about my life up to meeting her and asking if she had the same feelings I had for her.

          6) Have you had any professional work or have had any poetry published?
          None

          7) Other comments:
Thanks to all the people who voted for me, thanks to this site for the award, thanks to all the people who visit and enjoy my website and poetry, and a special thanks to Charlotte for without whom the poem wouldn't have been written and my summer would have been mighty boring.
