Prelude: Born in a small town in England, Tamar was the daughter of a blacksmith and a wise woman and the youngest of nine children.  She was a precocious child and spent her formative years soaking up her mother's and grandmother's occult knowledge and any other learning she could obtain.  But at the same time, Tamar had an independent streak a mile wide.  She refused to bow to society or take orders from anyone, and she was constantly in trouble with her parents and the townspeople.  When her father caught her having a roll in the hay with the seneschal's son, it was too much.  At the age of 14 her parents sent her away to a French convent.  Tamar continued to learn at the convent and enjoyed it at first, until she realized that she disagreed with the doctrine she was being taught.  She began to write discourses on theology and argue with the other sisters about reforming or overthrowing the Catholic Church, which horrified them.  At age 16 she left the convent to wander the French countryside, preaching her ideas for reforms to anyone who would listen.  Over the course of three years she attracted a small cadre of disciples and followers, some of them noted, powerful people.  Of course the Chuch soon took note, seized her in Paris, and tried her as a heretic.  She was found guilty and sentenced to burn.  Fortunately for Tamar, a Malkavian elder named Peter Cleary had taken an interested in her, and he decided to Embrace her upon hearing of her condemnation.  He broke into the prison where she was being held, Embraced her, then took her far away to be taught the ways of the Kindred.  When the inquisitors discovered she was gone, to save they declared she had been taken back to Hell by the Devil and proclaimed news of her death all over France.  Since then she has reappeared a number of times to her followers, and her legend is steadily growing among mortals...

Description: Tamar's already-present paranoia was only amplified by her induction into Clan Malkavian.  She thinks that all humans, even most of her disciples, are agents of the Inquisition sent to destroy her, and that all vampires are somehow in league with the elders to thwart her as well.  For Tamar, becoming a vampire was mainly a good thing; sure, it took some getting used to, but now she has a near-eternal unlife in which to accomplish her goals and a whole new framework to shake up.  Tamar has always wanted either to overthrow or completely change the Catholic Church, and from time to time she still goes into towns to prophesy.  But lately she's also been trying to screw up Kindred politics, since she thinks the power that vampires could have is hobbled by their reliance on the traditions and the hierarchy, and somehow get them to contribute to her goal.  She is completely open about her goals and plans--so open, in fact, that to most people they seem ridiculous to speak of and impossible to achieve.  But Tamar has come to realize that in circumstances such as hers, it can be a liability to be taken seriously...

Appearance: Tamar is small and fine-boned, with straight brown hair that reaches halfway down her back and big blue eyes that always have a somewhat wild look to them.  She looks much younger than she actually is and could even pass as a human child in some circumstances.  Her voice is high and sweet, yet it can quickly become resonant and powerful if she so desires.  Her dress is that of a typical French peasant.  Her looks are unremarkable but certainly not unpleasant.  All in all, Tamar blends in well, and people underestimate her considerably.

Yes, that's right...after spending many years making fun of Vampire players, I have now become one!  Now I know what being Embraced feels like, and it's a lot of fun!  (c:  Tamar's coterie started out like a Tarantino film gone horribly wrong--the most mistrusting, backstabbing, paranoid group of PCs you'll ever come across--but is slowly beginning to trust one another, maybe, just a little.  Nowadays, when Tamar's not following her regnant Laurel around--"like a little undead puppy dog," in the words of Laurel's player--she does fun things like arguing theology with camels, attempting to cheer up the party Tzimisce with flowers, and needless antagonizing really big snakes.  And after 700 years of downtime (don’t ask), Tamar the Malkavian elder is a formidable, if somewhat weird, force indeed.
