Stanza 12
But the Raven still beguiling all my fancy into smiling,

Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird and bust the
door;

Then, upon the velvet
sinking, I betook myself to linking

Fancy unto fancy, thinking what this ominous bird of
yore-

What this
grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous bird of yore

                                                   Meant in croaking, "
Nevermore."

Description
Stanza 12 is about the speaker still having a smile on his face because the situation is still very queer after all that has been happening. Not only does a large, conceited and black bird with mien of a superior being clench onto the bust above the speaker's chamber door, but anwers, "Nevermore," to all the speaker's questions or remarks. Also, the speaker continues to be confused by what this bird means with this replies.
