Oh wonder of wonders, Oh beautiful child of mine. How you delight me with your actions, How perfect you are in design.
I look at you everyday, You're learning more and more. Not wanting to dwell upon, That time you'll be walking out the door.
If I could keep you with me, Never to know pain or fear. I'd gladly sacrifice all I have, Just to keep you near.
When I look at you I see, Innocence and beauty within. Only a child knows about, Life without sorrow and sin.
But, raise you I must, The Lord has entrusted me to. And having been given that honor, I know what I must do.
Instill in you the values, That in me have always been. Teach you about your morals, To make your own way when you begin.
To love and worship God, Putting Him first in your life. Making sure you will be prepared, For this world so full of strife.
Then, hopefully,by the time you leave, And strike out on your own. I'll have done my job successfully, If in love and faith you've grown.
Be careful, son, of all you'll meet, Good judgement is the key. Look deep within your heart and know, That's where I'll always be...
