| I wanted to give you something special, I wanted it to be one of a kind. You have been such a good friend to me, But I didn't have anything in mind. So, off I went on my quest, Confident I would succeed I went to one store, then the next, But couldn't find anything you would need. I decided to stop for lunch, It had rained off and on all day. At least I could plan out my strategy, While eating my frustrations away! I had just paid my bill, And was walking out the door. When I looked up and saw, A gift not to be found in any store. It was the most awesome sight, I had ever gotten to behold. A rainbow stretching across the sky, And an idea started to unfold. A rainbow is so perfect, I decided right then and there. Untouched and never copied, No other gift could compare. I went straight to your house, And pulled you outside. I said, "Look, what I give to you", And you looked up and cried. You are the perfect friend, Always there after the rain. What other gift could I give to you, But a rainbow, simple and plain. To All My Wonderful Friends With Love, Debbie Dodson March 17, 2000 |
