The good 'ole front porch, My mind goes back to the days. To recapture all the warm memories, Of those long forgotten ways.
The front porch used to be, The scene of many activities. It served as well as any place, For all your outdoor festivities.
Sunday afternoons after church, Many would stop by. To catch up on the latest happenings, Gossip was never in short supply.
When coming in from that special date, To sit on the swing and court. Just to have your Dad flicker the light, Warning you your time was short.
On a calm and peaceful afternoon, There was no better place to be. Your family and friends sitting 'round, Sipping on fresh iced tea.
Many a dreams were formed on that porch, As the gentle breezes wafted through. We pondered on our future plans, And all the places we'd travel to.
You never see those gatherings now, Like back in the days of my childhood. Where everyone would gather around, And socialize whenever they could.
