You are on my mind,
Each waking moment in my life.
I cannot tell you the pain,
Going through my heart like a knife.

My mind's eye takes me back to the day,
I brought you home with me.
I never knew back in those days,
The sorrows and heartache that would be.

I raised you in a loving home,
Nurtured your every need.
You accepted the Lord at an early age,
And made me so proud of that deed.

Then, life took a tragic turn,
Your father decided to leave you.
The divorce was inevitable,
No daddy for you to talk to.

I tried my best to comfort you,
As any mother does her child.
But I could not give you back,
Your sweet and trusting smile.

From that day on I noticed,
The lost look in your eyes.
Try as I could, I couldn't erase,
All of your father's ties.

It was then you went seeking,
A love to fill the void.
One that you were hoping could,
Replace what your father had destroyed.

I thought you had found your peace,
And ended your long awaited search.
When you married and settled down,
But now you've left us all in the lurch.

What will it take to make you happy?
I've asked myself time and time again.
What will it take for you to end your search?
And put an end to this emotional strain.

I pray each and every night,
For God to bring you back.
I know that you are blinded now,
And need to get back on track.

So, sweet child of mine,
Know that I share in your pain.
My only wish is for your happiness,
And for you to find peace again.

Your Mother
