TDA3810

Introduction

TDA3810 is a one chip solution that provides stereo effects out of mono or stereo audio. The circuit is quite simple and requires only some components but if we follow the Philips datasheet schematic it turns out that pseudo-stereo mode produces very loud highly distorted audio. Below the problem is shown and solved.

Here is the schematic presented in the Philips datasheet and outlined in red the error that prevents it from working properly. Pin numbering is wrong (above picture shows the original wrong numbers), pins 3 and 5 must be swapped.
