Next we have two photos for direct comparison, one of the full chassis from the handbook and one of the chassis I completed (almost, I still have to conquer the brakes). There were two more frame additions I made which are on either side of the thick crossmember in the middle of the frame between the transmission and the battery.

You can go over both images yourself, you don't need me to spell out every detail for you. One difference you should note is that according to the handbook, the Phantom II chassis was available with two different sized fuel tanks, a 20-gallon and a 28-gallon. The brakes are still my Achilles heel. Here's a diagram of the break system from the handbook.

Here's another photo showing more of the braking system and some rear axle detail.

As you can see, the braking system was not made up entirely of rods but rods and cables. I spent a couple of weeks working on what would be the best way to make the cables. I am working on replicating the cables for authenticity and in the hopes that it may actually function better. The tough part is the clevises. Finding the right clevises and figuring out a way to attach the cables to the clevises. After about a week of messing around with it I think I came up with a method where I can use the kit's clevises without altering them or the rods I wish to replace. By the next update, I expect to have that solved but I won't know if it will work any better than with the rods until they're done and in place. If the performance is at least as good as with the rods then I will leave the cables in place. Otherwise I'll put the rods back and live with it. Wish me luck.
