Welcome and Introduction

Youth POA Chat Site as a Tool
-Daniella reminded the youth to use the Yoouth Chat site that Shane created to help communicate with other youth across the Nation. The site address can be found at http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/youthpoa/messages.
-Daniella also reminded the youth that theey could contact her at the email address [email protected] if they had any questions, comments, or concerns.

Youth Gaming Polo Shirts
-The idea for making and selling a Youth GGaming shirt was proposed several months ago by Tori. At the Convention Mrs. Shingelton and Mrs. Payne suggested that we work on getting the shirts started. Mrs. Payne came to the youth meeting and proposed some ideas for making the shirts. It was decided by the youth that the polo shirts would have a pocket design of a pony running around a barrel marked POAC, and under the design would be the words Turn and Burn! On the back of the polo shirts would be the POA design of the two crossed ponies. The shirts would be silk screened in black ink. Morgan suggested that we have people pre-order the shirts so that we know exactly how many to order without loosing any money. Mrs. Payne took on the responsibility of continuing to work on the shirts. Hopefully the polo shirts will be available in several colors and an order sheet will be in the POA magazine in the coming months.
The profit from the polo shirts sold will be put toward the Youth fund.

Regional Director Nominations
-Daniella explained that she had received some nominations for a few of the Regions but not all of them. She asked if there were any more nominations at that time. Since there were no more than 4 nominees from each region, and no more than 2 from each state is was decided by the youth present that an election was not necessary. So, the nominees were automatically elected Youth Regional Directors and were then read:
Area I (Northwest) None Elected
Area II (Southwest) DeeAnna McBride, CA [email protected]
Leah Miller, AZ [email protected]
Area III (Rocky Mountain) None Elected
Area IV (Mid-West) Amanda Reed, IA [email protected]
Alex Tarazewski, IL [email protected]
Alisa Dykstra, IA [email protected]
Whitney Jarvis, WI [email protected]
Area V (Mid-America) Shane Hampton, OK [email protected]
Area VI (Mid-East) Shalene Shingelton, IN [email protected]
Heidi Harper, OH [email protected]
Area VII (Southeast) Nikki Bach, TN [email protected]
Morgan Jiles, FL [email protected]
Jessica Smith, GA [email protected]
Eva Evans, TN [email protected]
Area VIII (Northeast) --Travis Rigg, VI
Andrew Burger, NY [email protected]
-The youth discussed the responsibilities of the Youth Regional Directors and it was decided that they should be in the 13-18 age group and would have to attend as many of the major shows as possible. The Youth Regional Directors would also have to hold meetings at their regional shows and report the information at the major Youth meetings. Daniella said that she would email the Youth Regional Directors when she got home.

Election of New Youth Advisor
-The youth decided that there would be twoo positions that the Youth Regional Directors would have to nominated and elect. The first position would be the Youth Advisor (Daniellas Position) and the second would be an Assistant Youth Advisor/Secretary (Shalenes Position). Daniella said that she would like to have this election done by the International so that she could hand over her position to the new Youth Advisor.

19 & Over Program
-The youth were aware that the Adults disccussed proposing an Adult ROM award. It was discussed and the youth felt that it would be unfair if the Adults were able to take their seasoned ponies and complete the Supreme Champion awards. However, the youth did feel that an Adult JPFC ROM would be acceptable. The expansion of the 19 & Over program was also discussed. The youth felt that is should still remain as the decision of the show committee as to how many 19 & Over classes should be offered. They agreed that forcing all states to have large 19 & Over programs would be unfair because is would make their shows longer and some states dont have very many adults interested in the 19 & Over program.

Height
-The youth discussed the topic of raising the height limit to 14.2 hands or 58 inches. Several of the youth pointed out that ApHC had lowered its minimum height requirement to 14.0 hands or 56 inches. A majority of the youth agreed that there was no more grey area to argue. It was also proposed to only measure your pony once a year rather that at every show. Mrs. Payne pointed out that maybe we could measure weanlings, yearlings, and 2 year olds at every show, but only measure 3, 4, and 5 year olds once at the beginning of the year. The youth remained undecided and split on the topic of height and measuring.

National Gaming Age Group High Point
- The youth felt that a National Gaming Hiigh Point would be nice for competitors who taking gaming seriously and have ponies who excel in it. It was proposed that a high point would be made for each age group, 8 & under, 9-12, and 13-18. In the future the youth would like to see a high point for individual games, but the youth also noted that not all states do all the games offered. It was decided that an individual game high point would have to be discussed and worked out sometime in the future.

Feelings about the Youth Club
- The youth felt that the Youth Advisory Board was a very positive thing and was helpful in communicating everyones ideas and concerns.

Daniella Beintema
POAC Youth Advisor

Note: Daniella attended the General Membership meeting and Mr. Hutchcraft and Mr. Chestnut advised me to select a few adults to serve as Adult Advisors to our Youth Advisor Board. Several adults expressed their interest in helping the Youth. Daniella asked these adults if they would like to serve as Advisors: Judy Katzenberger, DJ Jiles, Charlene Shingleton, Darren Vincent, and Michelle Payne all agreed to help. They will be available to help out at any time.
