Katy
Wehr

|
Katy
Wehr could carry a tune from when she was just a wee thing and spent countless hours
singing along with her family's player piano. Kate played piano and flute until she begged her mother to let her
join the choir. She has been writing music since she was 12: Classical, Christian and Folk, including a 2005 Americana/Folk solo CD, The Smell of Rain. Music from The Smell of Rain has been featured on radio shows and podcasts across the US and in the UK. Paul
Long

|
Always a performer, Paul Long spent his early years performing "the
Christmas Story" and Elvis impersonations with his brother and sister. Paul's
interest in music blossomed in Junior high when he began playing guitar and piano at 15
years old. In high school, Paul sang in choir and other small ensembles, including a
heavy metal band. After his short-lived pursuit as a music major in college, Paul
spent his time in various rock bands throughout and after college as lead singer and
rhythm guitarist. His musical influences range from Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and the
Counting Crows to Third Day and the woman who bangs out those southern hymns on the piano
at church. |
Al Peterson

|
Ever since he was a kid, Al Peterson has loved singing harmonies with the
radio, and has been singing ever since. He joined the church kids choir in 3rd
grade and has been singing in various choirs over the past 20 years through school, church
and most recently Robert Robinsons Community Gospel Choir. He also sings solos
at weddings, leads praise and worship at Wooddale Church, and was part of an acappella
quartet called Witness. Knowing his dream to play the piano, his parents
bought one when he was nine years old. He took three years of lessons as a kid, but
never wanted to play in public until his friend and band-mate, Paul Long encouraged him to
give it a shot. |
Mark Shirley
| The adage that the drummer is one who just hangs out with the band is untrue in the case of Mark. An accomplished musician, he plays the trumpet, guitar, and sings the low and high ends when necessary. Mark has led worship in numerous ensembles, and picked up the drums in order to help his band mates keep the rhythm. Mark makes things happen, is a servant, and is a great addition to the Porch Light ministry. |
