Rules
***UPDATED 11/12/03***
I.
LEAGUE REQUIREMENTS
1.) One NBA Live 2004 Online Username name to be used during the
PNLA Season. Using more than one online name is subject to removal
from the league
2.) All owners must be registered to the PNLA Forum. Owners must
register and use/post on the forums on regular basis. The Commissioner
will be keeping track of owners who aren't very active. Inactivity
will result from removal from the league.
3.) All owners must have:
a. NBA Live 2004 for PS2
b. A PS2 unit and network adapter
c. A computer at home and internet access.
II.
GENERAL
1.) All members must have an AOL or AIM screenname. AIM can be
acquired at www.aim.com.
2.) The use of foul play and/or language during a game, or on
the PNLA site will not be tolerated! Foul play can consist of
profanity, harassment of other players (ex. spam on AIM/email),
hate email or any type of discrimination. The PNLA will take quick
disciplinary action to remove you from the league. The PNLA takes
member complaints very seriously and valid proof (ex. screen shot)
will cause for member dismissal.
3.) Playing in the PNLA is free of cost as of now but requires
a commitment. You may cancel your membership at any time, though
you will not be able to re-enter until the season is complete
and if a team is available. The PNLA reserves the right to cancel
a membership at anytime.
4.) The PNLA will use a 56 game schedule in Season 3 followed
by the playoffs to determine a champion. Four sheduled games will
be played a week for 14 weeks. If a member goes on vacation and/or
will not be available to make the deadline of games played, the
PNLA should be notified of your absence. If the PNLA is not notified,
your membership will be canceled after two weeks of no communication
with the league. Missed games must be played when you return.
5.) Registrants that do not make the cut for season play will
be placed on the waiting list until a position becomes available.
6.) No "cheese" play will be tolerated. There are too
many definitions of this, and some of them will be covered below.
7.) Users can not have multiple accounts. Two users cannot use
the same PS2/PC (this rule does not apply to Season 1 owners that
already have premission).
III.
SEASON, PLAYOFFS, AND SCHEDULING
1.) The PNLA will consist of a 56 game schedule that will be posted
before the season begins. Each team will be allowed to play four
games a week, and those games will be unlocked on the stat tracking
site each week. Teams cannot play ahead of schedule.
2.) Playoffs follow season play. A 7-7-7-7 format will be used.
The two division winners and the next 6 best teams (by record)
in a conference will qualify for the playoffs, for a total of
8 teams per conference. Once a player is defeated in a series
in the playoffs, his/her season is completed until the start of
a new season.
3.) Games that go un-played (season and/or playoffs) for an extended
period of time will be reviewed by the PNLA and determined by
CPU simulation if necessary. If a member does not play season/playoff
games, they will be removed. Owners that make an effort to contact
unplayable owners will not be penalized. If an owner is having
problems contacting a particular opponent with AIM, email and
posting of messages in the forum should be done to set up a time
and day to play.
IV.
CONNECTION REQUIREMENTS
1.) The PNLA is only for residents in U.S. and/or Canada. If you
are located outside of these regions, please contact the Commissioner
to see if an exception can be made.
2.) If more than 2 disconnects occur for a particular member,
his/her connection will be reviewed by the Commissioner and a
decision will be made on his/her membership in the league.

GAMEPLAY
Breaking
the following rules will result in removal from the league.
1.) You cannot pause the game while your opponent is shooting
free throws. You can pause right after the foul is called or after
the last free throw if it is made, but not anytime between. You
can also not pause the game while your opponent is on offense
unless the ball is not in play.
2.) If excessive lag or any other server/game related problems
occur, restart the game within the first minute or two. Keep pausing
to a minimum.
3.) Keep the game as realistic as possible. If you believe your
opponent is doing anything unfair or wrong, see Section IX on
this rules page.
4.) Intentional fouling can only be used in the last 90 seconds
of the game and if the fouling team is losing by at least 6. Intentional
fouling can be used when down by any amount in the last 60 seconds.
5.)
Keep pausing to a minimum. It's okay to sub but don't pause it
excessively as this leads to disconnects.
6.)
Hands up (up on the right analog stick) can only be used when
you are stationary or contesting a shot. You cannot use this constantly
while moving or when there is not shot. It can be used, however,
to take a charge around the basket.
7.)
Stealing the ball on an inbounds can ONLY be used when you are
losing. If you do this when you are leading you will receive a
warning. Each warning increases the chances of removal from the
league.
8.)
Only one contoller can be connected to the PS2 during the game.
No 2 vs. 1. It has come to my attention that 2 people can play
on the same team online, and this will not be tolerated.
VII.
POST GAME
1.) Following each game, copy the required stats down and submit
them on LeagueDaddy.
2.)
Optional: It is recommended that you post a scouting report and
a game summary in the league forum.
3.) DO NOT QUIT the game until you are sure your opponent is done
copying stats. Message him/her before you disconnect from the
game, otherwise it will force the other player to quit, too. If
this is done twice by one owner, he/she will be removed.
VIII.
DISCONNECTIONS
1.) If a disconnection occurs, you and your opponent can either:
a.) Restart the game. Both owners must agree to this.
b.) Play out the remaining time of the game, rounded up to the
nearest minute. Make sure that the game ends with a buzzer by
adjusting the quarter length. For example, if the game were to
disconnect with 1:55 left in the 3rd, you would restart the game
with 2 min. quarters.
Quiting
a game will automatically result in expulsion from the league.
Whether your opponent broke a rule or not, you will be removed.
No excuses will be considered. Disconnected games should be continued
as soon as possible.
IX.
COMPLAINTS
If
you feel that your opponent has broken any of the above rules,
or if you have an idea for a rule that is not on this page, please
contact the Commissioner at [email protected]
or use the "Contact Commish" link on the main page.
Thanks.
