| The first thing I noticed about Red Square was that....well....it isn't red! In the 16th century the square was cleared of a stinking city market, which was held on the originally lain red cobblestones, hence Red Square. Around Red Square there are some very impressive buildings too, displayed here |

| The GUM is Moscow's most exclusive shopping centre. Above is a picture of inside, which looks like the interior of a Las Vegas casino with all its fancy shops. On the right a picture during the day and below the GUM at night. This clearly shows how much richer European Russia is then eastern and siberian Russia. The cost of living here is way higher then the rest of the country. Therefore Moscow is a city of dreams for most Russians from the poorer regions. |
