Artist Statement
My true passion in ceramics is the act of throwing on the potter’s wheel. The ‘spiral-horn’ form achieved with a spinning piece of clay is a small example of how versatile the wheel truly is. I strive to take the idea of ‘thrown and assembled,’ to a more complex level, by finding different forms other than your basic teapot.
I
fire primarily in cone 5 oxidation and seek vibrant colors and any number
of textures and surfaces.
My latest pieces combine a variety of ceramic surfaces with the energy
of neon light. The infinite textures achieved with glazes set the stage
for the play of neon-technology and the complexity of ceramic form.
My ceramic forms combined with the recent innovation of pliable-‘Cool Neon’ gives me a great range of directions in where I take my art. With today’s technology, these forms can take on the beats and rhythms of this modern world, making them interactive, responsive, and absolutely hypnotizing. Let the fun begin!
