The Lip Sync Sensations

lip sync, n: combining audio and video recording in such a way that the sound is perfectly synchronized with the action that produced it; especially synchronizing the movements of a speaker's lips with the sound of his speech...(In other words we are horrible singers so we just act like we are singing to the music.)

The Idea

The band was originally created by Barry Landis and Bobby Wright as a way to inform people of church announcements using a video. They thought that they would imitate Christian boy band Plus One and do it cheaply by only using one camera angle. Then each member would have to fight for space in view of the camera while everyone sang and attempted to dance.

The History

The video was played on a Sunday morning and the kids in the audience loved it but Barry and Bobby thought that the band should probably end there and try to go out on a good note. Little by little, talk of the band performing again came about. Almost exactly a year after their debut, the band came together to create another music video. This time fan Sean Pickett was added to the group to replace the absent Ryan Chisum, who was in a undisclosed location, on a church mission trip. Matt Flint helped with the technical support. Joe Hicks, although he had moved to Idaho in the off year, came back for a surprise guest performance and helped the band to create another hilarious video. Almost nine months later the band was asked to perform their first live concert at the Jr. High retreat @ Island Lake in East Bremerton, WA.

The Concert

The band eagerly accepted their first concert booking but had to make a few adjustments for their live performance. First off they aquired Chris Dalke to replace the now absent Joe Hicks who was unable to return from Idaho. They needed to set up a time with Photographer Karlyn Hillerstrom for their photo shoot to advertise and have autograph material. The concert went off without a hitch as the band performed two songs, "Soul Tattoo" and "Jump, Jump, Jump." The crowd loved it and all the pictures were snatched up within five minutes.

The Near Future

Still high off their first live performance the band eagerly awaits the return of original band member Ryan Chisum from his mission trip. They will then proceed back to the recording studio to film their now awaited Christmas Album music video filmed on location on Mt. Baker. Rumor has it that Joe Hicks will also be returning for a surprise reunion of the original band for this special video.

In The Works

The Baker Christmas video was cancelled due to time constraints and availability of band members. The band is starting to kick around the idea of another video either to the song "My Life", "I Will Rescue You" or "Last Flight Out." As the leaders of the group discuss song possibilities, schedules of filming and photo sessions another great opportunity has come about. A church in Easley, South Carolina has heard of the band and is pushing around the idea of flying them in to be part of an outreach event they will be hosting. The band will most likely perform on a Saturday night with a possible autograph and photo session following. If the band is officially invited and decides to go, they will most likely be performing four songs. Two of them are surprise songs that have never been performed live before. The band is thinking this one over on who can and can't go to perform and still waiting on official word as to whether they will be coming out. Stay tuned or check out the new contact info to stay up on this new event.

Stay tuned for the continuing saga of Plus Deuce and where they are headed...
