Plumbline SC
We, at SCMFSA, received our charter in the spring of 1999 and are the first Chapter in South Carolina in the near 100 year history of the National Organization of MFSA. We are very proud of this accomplishment, but we are also aware of how dearly this speaks to the need of our presence in this state and in the South Carolina United Methodist Annual Conference. We have striven to meet the need with our meager numbers, and in the past, we were successful in supporting several key resolutions our last Annual Conference. In particular, we addressed issues including removal of the Confederate Battle Flag flying over the SC State Capitol Building; requesting the recognition of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday in SC; supporting those churches in SC who have actively opposed the presence of the KKK in their communities;  helping to elect delegates to the General and Jurisdictional Conferences who will be supportive of social justice concerns; supporting ministerial needs for Children in Crisis, offering resolutions on educational reforms in the state; and speaking out on other issues of social justice.

In addition to participating in the local conference, we also work for Justice Issues on a national level by supporting the efforts National MFSA Board  and by sending representatives and observers to the Jurisdictional and General Conferences.

We are actively seeking additional
members. If you live in South Carolina and are a member of the United Methodist Church (UMC) and/or are sympathetic to our cause, we would love to talk to you about becoming a member. If you should choose to join the SCMFSA, your membership will include a membership in the National MFSA. There is a fee associated with this, but it is very reasonable and funds the group.
