| As one of the founding members of SCMFSA, Sam George has been an active part of our group from the getgo. He has been a wonderful representative for the SCMFSA at the National meetings, and has also been an excellent ambassador for the National MFSA to South Carolina. Sam recently agreed to take on the duties of our Conviener until our next officer elections. Sam is very active in strengthening ties to existing social justice organizations, and is a major proponent for the rights of minorities, homosexuals, AIDS victims and the poor. He is a lifetime member of the NAACP. Sam recently finished his MA in Philosophy at the University of SC. This will be added to the other degrees he holds: a B.A. in Religion from Furman University, a M.Div. from Yale Divinity School, and a D.Min. from Drew University. His D. Min. dissertation is entitled, "Ministry to Persons with HIV Infection in Cherokee County". Ordained in 1987, he has served at, First UMC, Myrtle Beach (Associate Pastor), Limestone Street UMC, Chesnee & Trinity UMCs, and Johnsonville UMC. When he is not studying, he spends time surfing the net via AOL, plays with his cats, Mike and Olympia, lifts weights, and volunteers as a chaplain at the Lexington Medical Center. |
