Water Music: No Division
Released 5-1-99 Some Records Hot Water Music has been around for awhile. They originated as a hardcore band in Gainesville, Florida, also home to skapunk rockers Less Than Jake. HWM added some emo and a few pop punk elements to become a well-rounded band with a new kind of originality to offer. They concentrate on playing powerful music, and suceed with the instrumental section. The vocalist can be interpreted in many ways. For the hardcore fans, he has the rapsy, screaming edge. He is actually singing notes, which makes it enjoyable for the overpopulated pop punk listener. Harmonies do exist and are well executed. One aspect that sticks out on this album is the drumming. The drummer is very skilled and in touch with the band's music. The drums are also tuned perfectly to create a sound that is often surpassed. Tracks of interest include, "It's Hard to Know" with a powerful shout chorus of "Live your heart and never follow" and, "Driving Home". Most songs are decent.
