Harvey Danger: King James Version
Released Sept. 12, 2000
Sire Records Group

Harvey Danger's second album is an excellent follup to Where Have All The Merrymaker's Gone? Their debut was a test of the skill that the quartet undoubtebly has, while this album is a proof. Production is excellent as opposed to "Merrymakers" where the vocals are masterfully layered and guitar parts are clean. The drums are intuitive and bring a non-traditional grunge rock edge to the band.

Most intriguing to me are the vocal techniques Nelson uses in this album. From speaking in rhythm to screaming or singing unexpected notes, his style is catchy and original. The lyrics of Harvey Danger contain large words that add depth and for the advanced listener, more to consume. Many satirical remarks on society, pop culture that Nelson makes are quoteable and long lasting.
