Problematic
Released 6-06-99 Epitaph Records All has been around for a while (since 1987) although they have switched members many times. First they were the Descendants and after switching vocalists numerous times (including the ex- Dag Nasty (who by the way are back together after 10 years) vocalist Dave Smalley), they ended up with Chad and are now known as All. Their distinct sound includes key changes at unexpected junctures and whining guitar solos that tend to be of the minor origin. But All rocks with their catchy guitar and hints of vocal licks that start to be catch until they change keys. The lyrics in Problematic are opinionated. Chad sings "Don't like what they do, Lock them away. Don't like what they say, Lock them away." in a song questioning our legal system and "where our system fails". My guess is that All is trying to stray from the traditional without being experimental. They are definitely still punk rock and they do a great job with this album. RATING:
8.5 (out of 10)
