On the afternoon of Sunday, the
8th of October, Plexy practiced and then packed up our equipment for our
first show. The drive there was a bit nerving, we weren't sure where we
were going. We went over our setlist in the car and reminded Martin how
each song went. When we arrived at the Teen Pulse Club, we were more relaxed.
We unloaded and waited for our turn to play. One band had dropped out so
there were only 3 bands playing that day. We felt good about that, but
we knew that one band we were playing against, Side Effect, would bring
a lot of people in. After Angry Fin, a punk cover band played, we were
up. Our set went well, but was cut short. The mixing was far short of perfect
where they took my Guitar out of the PA after the 3rd song, the drums were
quiet, as was the bass. The croud was good but not very large. Adam's uneasiness
led to numerous jokes at the audience's expense. Joke such as, "You are
the ugliest audience we have ever played for", "You guys are jerks", and
others put the audience on a bias against us. Not to say we would have
won anyways considering our hometown crowd consisted of three friends and
my family. We took 2nd Place, a Trophy and half the money back that we
payed to enter the Battle. It was overall a good experience. |
