I learned to knit long ago - the first time was when I was very young, 7 or so- from a family friend. The second time was when I was 15, from our foreign exchange student.
My habits were sloppy, my pursuit of knitting was erratic, and apart from a few odd sweaters or blankets, knitting was not something I did with much regularity.

Then, a few baby projects came up, and from there, a few more projects - until one day I became Officially Obsessed. In the past three years, I have have had no more than a week without knitting .... it's in my bloodstream, and I feel restless if too much time passes and my hands haven't been knitting.  It's methodical, it's creative, it's soothing.

I've also successfully taught co-workers & friends how to knit, and while not all of them have "the bug", my good friend Liz has Fiber Fever and can always empathize with my desire & need :
