So, More Thoughts on Knitting: Yes, knitting has caught on and is “trendy”, which makes me nuts, because the last thing I want to be accused of is “following” the herd like a woolly sheep!

I have a semi-crazed love of fancy yarns, and while I always thought I was pretty tactile, I am driven to pet all yarn that is in front of me. Fortunately, I think a lot of dedicated knitters are like this – stash overflowing, projects too numerous to mention, the desire to keep buying yarn, more than one project at a time in progress – it’s all part of the obsession.

Fortunately, as long as I don’t overspend my money on yarn, it’s a pretty healthy obsession ---  if that’s not an oxymoron!

I like to knit while I’m watching tv, because then I don’t feel like I’m “wasting time”. I also knit over my lunch hour if I’m staying in, and I knit on vacations. I worry that my hands will lose their dexterity in time, or that arthritis will affect me, but until that day comes, I’ll be cranking out sweaters & socks, afghans & hats, and any other odd project that comes up.

I need to do a “special shout out” to my favorite list for us amply-endowed knitters – that would be the “ample knitters” list & home page!
Shelda is our benevolent & delightful list mom, and I had the privilege of meeting Shelda in Branson in 2001 at the TKGA meeting.
(I also splurged on a fabulous Trendsetter yarn wrap kit at that convention – the decadence! The joy!)

Check out the website at www.ample-knitters.com  - you’ll get lots of information on how to subscribe to the list, there’s a gallery of photos & projects, and resources & patterns. Join us! We’re a friendly bunch & have plenty of KAL’s (knit-along’s) to heighten your learning curve!
