Planet X had it's third performance at Lindee's Bar & Grill in Concord, CA (Gig #15). It was definately a strange night for us. First of all, when we arrived we we're informed that we had to setup and play immediately. This was because the band that was supposed to play first, wanted to play last - and the band that was supposed to play last wanted to play first, but since the other band was already there - two of them had gone off to get some food and nobody was playing yet. Therefore...we were playing Now, get it?
Yeah, we didn't get it either. But gradually things worked themselves out and we wound up back in our original slot (3rd out of 4 bands - except the last band never showed up so we we're 3rd out of 3). Concord is a little ways off and we're still in the midst of getting known there so going first wouldn't have bothered us, as it turned out the first band (Busted Knuckles who were a cross between Rush and Sepultura, and who at least had some following) took their fans with them after they played. The second band was a "signed act" called S.F.B, who just finished a tour, they were really, really good... an industrial band in the vein of Nine Inch Nails or Stabbing Westward.
Then came our turn. We've had worse nights, but at the time it would be hard to convince us of that. Darryl broke a string on two guitars - in a row. The first one wasn't a big deal, but the second one meant that we could perform about half out set because we didn't have a guitar in the proper tuning anymore.
Still, we soldiered on...and using a third guitar finished what we could of the set. And naturally all of this was captured on video tape. In the final look, inspite of the club craziness and technical difficulties - we put on a hell of a show. The sound was good and the vocals were right on. It wasn't perfect, but then that's still rock-n-roll.
