| 02-28-05: The Oscars have all been awarded and Million Dollar Baby did pretty well. Thanks to Mark I was able to keep tabs on the winners and The Incredibles also took home a statuette. I came to the realization that I miss a lot of award shows and finales because I'm at KTUH when all the action is going down on Sunday evenings. I had to go to all the news outlets to get the details and it just isn't the same seeing the beautiful dresses in stills rather than in motion. Anyhow, it was another fun show with a lot of community input, so I'm a happy camper in this corner. 02-25-05: Saturday! I've been disregarding my diet and eating cake, brownies, lots of non-healthy food and drinking soda. My metabolism is way off-kilter and can't handle all the sweet and fat that I've been splurging on. Exercise is next on the list, speaking of which, I hope to catch the film, Latcho Drom at the Architecture Auditorium. If you have the chance, go and see how the Gypsies migrated through Europe and Asia... 02-22-05: Starting out the week on a holiday always feels funny as I try to sort out the here and now in my head. I mean I know that it's Tuesday, the calendar on my desk says its Tuesday, the shows on the radio are Tuesday shows ... yet I still phaze out and think that it's Monday. I hope I don't forget to show up for class and fall asleep instead. 02-17-05: I heard the group Common Dream on Nocturna's show with DJ Despair... the whole set was a goldmine of great bands like The Echoing Green and Human Drama. Common Dream really caught my attention and I went online and did a google search on the band and discovered their website... It wasn't that difficult to buy their album because it was offered through amazon.com in Germany. It was a bit weird trying to guess at which buttons to click onto... I could only try and try again, as it was a hit or miss type of a thing... everything was in German, which I can't read! Thankfully amazon.com.de mirrored the American site, and I bumbled my way through and Common Dream is in the post! KTUH is the best place to discover new music... the only bad thing of this whole episode is that the plastic in my wallet needs a few paychecks to recover from all the recent activity. |
