| 09-25-04: Hey guys, I won't be doing the show tomorrow but DJ Mano Lopez has been kind enough to take over the reigns and he'll be filling in for tomorrow's three hour shift. Look forward to great Latin and African artists and whatevery you can get into the mix. Don't be shy and you can still request what you want to hear on your radio by calling 956-7261. Where will I be? Eating lots of Chinese food at Daisy's wedding banquet. I'll miss spinning Cesaria Evora and all the other great world artists, but I'll be back on October 3rd! 09-23-04: Radiothon is closing in! It took a while to compile 10 songs that I think Hawaii needs to hear. Now that I've turned it in, I realize I've left out some really great titles... like 'Perfect Blue Sky,' 'Center of the Sun,' Paul Schwartz's 'Miserere'... I could go on and on, but Derek only asked for 10 titles, so when you see what I've written, you'll know it took a lot of work to produce that short list. Reality check: two wisdom teeth are going to be extracted so I'll be out of commission and sleeping. Can you imagine not talking for a week? It's going to be weird. 09-19-04: There was a recent report of some sort that said keeping a journal was detrimental to the keeper of such a thing. I didn't pay much attention, and I can't think of anything negative about keeping such recoreds. I like having these little snippets as they serve as windows into who I was a year ago. I actually went through a phase of recording everything I ate. It doesn't make for interesting reading, but it does help the sights and scents kick in. Okay, how was your weekend? There were so many things to choose from... the Cinema Paradise Film Festival, the Stefan George and Sasha concerts, seeing 'My Way' at the Manoa Valley Theatre... decisions...decisions. The multi-talented boys of the Old Blind Dogs gave a great concert on Friday. I've still got stars in my eyes and can hear their sweet refrains echoing in the chambers of memories. 09-09-04: Chocolate! In appreciation for working the overnight shift because Thomas was out of town on vacation, I now have two bars of milk and dark chocolate from Washington. Yummers! 09-05-04: Amazingly my back is still intact after a marathon weeding session which lasted all day, and since tomorrow is a holiday, I can look forward to a marathon workout on the N64. I've been adding the miles to the odometer and drove to Waianae and then to Kaneohe... it is amazing how the color changes on the mountain range... both sides of the Island are beautiful and I envy Mike who works in the great outdoors. He's healthy and always has a great tan. FYI: since I won't be near a computer, the playlist for tonight's show won't be posted until Tuesday. |
