| 02-27-04: The skies have been really letting loose and at times like these, I wish I had a longer jump; whenever it rains, crosswalks become flooded like a pond and I'm always strategizing how to get to the next block. Thank goodness for the company van, I hitched a ride down the street, so that I could protect my new shoes from being blessed by the muddy streetwater. Last night's volleyball game was a nail-biter... the quick loss of a couple of points because of rotation errors during the decisive fifth set had me worried... but the team pulled out a "W" and I'm looking forward to another great volleyball game! 02-24-04: Worry is a wonderful motivational tool. I'm breathing easier now that I have the much sought after camera in hand. Thankfully the trash gets picked up today as well, because my Spring Cleaning started much earlier than expected... My inner muse is estatic, maybe this'll be the year I start on the documentary Roger keeps dreaming of. 02-23-04: I managed to misplace the video camera and am going crazy turning each room inside out looking for it. It's been over a year since I last saw it, but I distinctly remember putting it away. Unfortunately at this point it is nowhere to be found... I tried sitting somewhere quiet and mentally retracing my steps to visualize what I did... A year is a long time ago, and I took a lot of steps between now and then. I'll get chewed out for losing the expensive piece of equipment which I only used twice... OUCH! I am so not looking forward to confessing my mishap. 02-17-04: The Aloha Stadium was a beautiful sight beckoning us towards the finish line. Yesterday morning started a tad bit too early, but it was my first Great Aloha Run and it felt great to be part of the HUGE community event. I really liked the Taiko drumming and envied all the kids in their red wagons and strollers. I kicked myself for not bringing a camera; the view of the highway is so different at a snail's pace... The morning flew by and before I knew it, it was 11:30 and I had my 20th anniversary t-shirt! Never has sweet bread and banana tasted so good... The reality of trekking 8 straight miles has hit me... all my muscles are sore and I'm going to hit the white flower oil and go to sleep. 02-10-04: Another week is underway and I'm just not as productive as I want to be. I spent two hours drying my hair... I really need to prioritize my schedule. Anyway, tuning into KTUH is top on my list and it's a great way to find new music... DJ Nocturna had me glued to the radio with Saturday's playlist; she was kind enough to zap me a file with it all typed out... I was drawn towards artists coming out of Germany and interestingly, I don't play very many German artists. The only one I can name off-hand is Ute Lumper. Well, I'm estatic that the barefoot diva took home the prize... Cesaria Evora won for best contemporary world music album! Other Grammy Award winners that cheered my morning: Coldplay, Cafe Tacuba, and Howard Shore. 02-06-04: Keep one eye on the television set and the other ear tuned into the Planet... Grammy Awards will be handed out on Sunday evening with a vast field of contendors... I guess it's already an honor to be nominated, but I hope these artists win... Category 5: Best Female Pop Vocal: White Flag - Dido Category 11: Best Pop Vocal Album: Bare - Annie Lennox Category 12: Best Dance Recording: Breathe - Telepopmusik Category 13: Best Pop Traditional Vocal: The Last Concert - Rosemary Clooney Category 59: Best Latin Rock/Alt. Album: Cuatro Caminos - Cafe Tacuba Category 71: Best Contemporary World Music Album: Voz D'Amor - Cesaria Evora, but she's up against Youssou N'Dour and Caetano Veloso! Category 79: Best Score Soundtrack: LOTR, The Two Towers - Howard Shore I could go on but I won't, sleep beckons and I'm answering the call. Goodnight! 02-02-04: I'm bummed because my CD didn't burn right. Instead of throwing it in the trash can, I was inspired to put my artistic signature on it's blank yellow surface... I've covered it with my make-shift art supply of Sharpie ink and liquid paper... However, my creativity has been short-lived, as it lasted only as long as it took for the fumes to accumulate over my desk... the chemical stench is making my head spin... all I feel like doing is feeding the fish... button down the hatches, my lunch is making for land. |
