01-30-04: Positivity makes the day go by in a whirl...go Panthers!  DJ Nocturna's got another great show lined up.  Tune in to hear her talk with Jeff Gere and Willow Chang about the Arabian Nights at Indigo... that's Saturday starting at 6pm!

01-27-04: It's actually a pleasant day with no flood warnings or watches in the forecast.  I spent most of my weekend pacing in front of listening stations looking for new music to add to my music library.  After my left foot went to sleep, I discovered the compilation, Chillout 04, released by Nettwerk America.  With lots of great artists like Conjure One, BT, Motorcycle, and Bjork,  I happily played most of the album on Sunday's show.  American Idol Hawaii... Survivor All-Stars... the Superbowl... the Grammies... I won't be near a television, so I can only imagine what I'll be missing.

01-22-04: I didn't wear red, but I'm having a fun day nonetheless... I have chai in one hand and a Russian compilation in the other.  Planning on walking my payment into the  credit company, thus enabling me to go back on-line and get more great music from Amazon.  I'm eyeballing Lisa Gerrard and Air (French Band)'s latests... did I mention that I'm having a great day?  Happy first day of the Chinese New Year.

01-19-04:  Did you enjoy the Lunar New Year Festivities over the weekend?  If you missed all the fun, don't fret because there're still some other happenings around town.  Get your fill of lion dancing, firecrackers and great food at Kahala Mall, the Market City Shopping Center, and Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center... they've all scheduled celebrations through the end of the month.  Visit the Hawaii National Bank's main branch in Chinatown, 45 N. King Street.  Assistant Vice President Evelyn Chang has assembled beautiful displays and enlightens all who enter with her vast knowledge of Chinese New Year.   Xie Xie Sau!  For inspiring last night's show... Thank goodness mom translated all the Chinese characters. Important fact:  Language, use it or lose it.  Interesting trivia:  Lord Byron, Harry Houdini, and Pope John Paul II are all famous monkeys.  Have a great Monday and do something meaningful remembering Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.

01-12-04: The web was down for a bit, so I tried the old fashioned method of phoning the admissions office to get myself registered.  Round and round the mulberry bush, the monkey chased the weasel...I got dizzy from all the transferring that happened, not to mention getting dropped while being asked to wait.  Turns out, I didn't need clearance from the Cashier's Office, as I was sent back to the library where the hold originated... Hmm, am I the victim of cruel irony or what?  I specifically went to Sinclair Library on Thursday to pay the fine, only to suffer the whole weekend staring at a big red HOLD ...and I've sadly accepted the fact that I won't be spending $30 at Towers.

01-10-04:  Spicolli is on the alumni show and playing great bands as usual.  Saturday afternoons are always a treat, with voices from the past infusing KTUH with worldly wisdom and energy.  It's the only positive thing out of the whole miserable day... I was awakened by the banging of cabinets being assembled.  Now I've spent a couple of hours trying to figure out why I can't register and have accepted the sad fact that I'll be forking over a late fee because of the HOLD status on my account.  Even though I paid my library fine, Sinclair and the Cashier's Office are two separtate entities who don't share information with each other.  I've been going zonkers clicking links to windows that have too much print and no direct answer to my dilema.  I just need a phone number that would allow for me to get in touch with the human element.

01-08-04:  What a friend to have.  Luke Trerice had the brilliant idea of aluminum foiling Chris Kirk's entire apartment.  He and some other friends covered appliances, books, rooms and even toilet paper in foil!  It must have been a trip for Kirk to come home and find the whole decor silver and crinkly.  With the amount of publicity this metalic abode is drawing, maybe Trerice should apply for a MFA at the University of Hawaii.  I read this story on The Olympian website.  Okay, no more living vicariously through other people...funny thing happened at the mall.  I used my Christmas gift-certificate to pay for a $3 cup of chai and got a dollar and some change from the clerk.  Interestingly, she didn't believe me when I asked for the correct change...and then, I only sipped 1/8 of the cup before dumping the awful brew...well, something good did come out of this whole debacle, I have a new $20 bill with blue and peach ink...it's so pretty, I don't want to spend it (yet).

01-01-04: First entry of the new year will be short and sweet as I have been trying to rename files and make sense out of the mess of links that will tie this whole website  together.  Go outside and smell the rain, it's another perfect day in Hawaii, Happy 2004!
