12-30-03: I'm running out of space on this page which is why the font has been getting smaller and squished together.  Having just posted the LAST playlist of the year, I have come to the realization that a lot of reconfiguration is in order, as archive 2004 will require another link...but where will it go?  I wasn't thinking ahead this far, thus each page will have to be tweaked.  Hope all your New Year's Parties are fun and  memorable...Hauoli Makahiki Hou, and xie-xie (thanks to) everyone for their cheerful and inspirational holiday wishes.  I am looking forward to another fun-filled year spinning the music that makes my planet a happy one.   As always, drive responsibly and watch out for each other, because we all share the same roads.  Be well, be safe, and I'll see y'all on another beautiful Sunday!
12-26-03: I'm back at my desk... it was a wonderful day and a half without responsibilites; just chilling  with loved ones is the best way to spend the holidays.  How's your day after?  Traffic patterns are lovely... there was nothing between me and the machines except for a couple of red lights.  I can't believe we are nearing the end of another year.  Time zips by too quickly and I'm trying to decide which albums make my top ten for 2003...care to share who're your favorites?  Ciao for now, duty calls and I have no choice but to brave the lines and get toothpaste.  Don't forget to floss!
12-22-03: MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Last night's playlist was full of holiday music; joyful classics to put smiles on your faces... I hope you enjoyed the selections.  Vince Guaraldi's Christmas Time Is Here was sweet and I really liked the Gregorian version of Ave Maria.   This has been a wonderful year with  many listeners sharing their vast knowledge of music and tuning into college radio.  May you and yours have a safe and happy holiday season and a joyful New Year!
12-19-03: Another short weekend to look forward to.  I've been in the crush of mall traffic and with the holiday rush going full tilt, shopping isn't as much fun as I thought it would be.  Most of my musical finds have been done via amazon.com... that's where I picked up the Return of the King soundtrack special edition with DVD.  It was on sale and I didn't have to find parking!  My boss says that the money should be spent locally to stimulate the economy...he's got a point, but with all the money that I spend at the gas pump, the economy should be quite stimulated.
12-18-03: I've always been impressed with Peter Jackson's vision and how he makes JRR Tolkien's world visually stunning and full of heart.  The Return of the King was well worth the year long wait, as I got to see all of my favorite characters continue through their difficult adventure...I admit that Legolas is still my favorite elf.  I loved the soundtrack too, as it has a couple of tracks that feature Billy Boyd (Pippen) and Viggo Mortenson (Aragorn).  The three hours flew by, but I definately will be seeing this film again.  New Zealand is a beautiful backdrop, making Middle Earth a very believable place that I want to go and see for myself.
12-15-03: This is the best week of the whole year!  Plans have been set and I look forward to standing in line to see The Return of the King. I'll also be consuming tons of holiday food... I've got to see my dentist because the  chocolate I've been enjoying  is doing funky things to my gums.  But the nicest thing about this week is that friends and family are coming home!  Yipee!!  More food and fellowship to enjoy!!  Well, I've been typing madly and the playlists are posted.   Did you know that Ave Maria has many forms and variations?  I didn't, so when I set out to find to play this holiday favorite, I got at least twenty tracks to choose from... Schubert, Brahms, Verdi, Rachmaninoff, Mozart... even Gregorian chant;  so many composers have paid tribute to Mary, mother of Jesus... I'll eventually choose one to play on next week's show as we inch closer and closer to Christmas!!  I'm so giddy I need to sit down.  Have a fun finals week and don't overdose on the shopping!
12-09-03: Winter is here.  The east coast gets snow, we get rain.  Sunday was another fun show. Joe caught the full moon on the east side of the island as I played music to watch the clouds by.  Apparantly, there weren't any clouds to watch, not really, because the sky was a huge blanket of grey.  I was encouraged by listeners who asked about Thursday's show and now that the semester is almost over, 'What Makes You So Dangerous' will go back to it's regular programming. ;P  Even though I'd been warned to expect a downpour (thanks to all the KTUH listeners for the heads-up), the deluge that I had to drive through was too much of an adventure.  I got off of the highway and inched through neighborhoods, where roads had turned into rivers replete with waterfalls and stalled cars.  It was pretty harrowing because the rain was falling so hard that I could barely see the next set of traffic lights.  Familiar turns became alien and I found myself taking unwanted detours.  What a wild night.  At one point I toyed with the idea of turning up on S&L's doorstep.  Thankfully everyone was driving with caution.  I couldn't wait to park and go to sleep.  Having survived the storm I'm happy that the island looks greener and hopefully the aquifers have been saturated for next year's water supply.  The best part of the ordeal was running barefoot in the rain.
12-04-03: Oh what a difference age makes.  The clouds were beautiful but I couldn't see anything.  I miss being able to find things in the clouds...horses,  bunnies, faces and the like.  I seem to have lost my creative zest, or maybe driving isn't condusive to cloud watching.  Well, it has been another hectic day.  A lot of KTUH staffers are getting into finals mode and several shifts needed subs.  I decided to forego my weekly dose of Survivor and will sit in on tonight's show for Beaker.  He's preparing for a major presentation so he can't come out and play.  I've been surfing through his old playlists and have stepped out of my comfort zone, but all will be well because Jali and Pablo will be there too.
12-02-03: I am the happiest Ling on the Planet...the sun was shining and providence smiled on me today, I found my stash of gift-cards that I'd forgetten from last year...I am so ready to spend money that I don't have.  Sau of the Mediocre Show has invited everyone to his Saturday morning debut...you can be there for his return to KTUH's airwaves too.  He'll be on at midnight on Friday (yes, Stokely's old time slot). So remember to tune in and enjoy Sau's mediocre sensibilites on a early Saturday morning as you get started for the weekend.
12-01-03: Are you keeping dry?  I've been hanging out in this basement wondering if I dare venture out into traffic or not.  Roger witnessed some crazy driver racing with a fire engine.  Then he saw a biker run a red light, barely avoiding a nasty accident by the hair of his chinny chin chin.   What is it about the rain that causes people to throw caution into the wind?   Have all the colorful umbrellas distracted them from the road?  Mayhaps its the clean crisp scent of rain that causes one to forget that they sit behind the wheel of lean mean driving machine.  Well, whatever it is, I can't avoid it any longer, I'm hungry and it's past dinner time.
