06-30-03: Are you ready for summer?  Well, another weekend zips by and I had to open up my eyes and face Monday morning traffic...at least there weren't any accidents so the brakes didn't get a work-out like they usually do...I took my car in for new tires and left with more repairs to be done...the CV joint needs to be replaced...hmm, maybe I should trade in my car keys for a bus-pass.  Gas prices aren't going down and I've got an insurance payment coming up too...I think I spent my tire money at the record store...not a good idea.  Well, on a brighter note:  I opened up my guestbook and got another signature from abroad.  Xie xie for tuning in from Taiwan!  Lots of great music has been landing in the new section.  Putumayo has released some great albums...French Caribbean, Dreamland, Cover the World, Africa Groove, and Salsa Around the World...have I mentioned that I want to work for them?  Bon voyage to Tom who gets travel around for the next few weeks.  I also learned that it isn't a good idea to listen online via dialup.  So, go ahead and make friends with your neighbor who has broadband and share college radio with the masses!!

6-23-03: I totally zoned out and didn't announce that solo Cajun guitarist, David Doucet,  is in town!! He'll be conducting a workshop on June 26 and then he'll play a concert at the Orvis Auditorium on Friday, June 27.  He's recognized as the guitarist of award-winning Cajun band, BeauSoleil, and you may want to see him for yourself.  Last night's show was pretty fun.  I got to talk to listeners from all over the island, from Mililani to Hawaii Kai...very sorry that I didn't locate the Titanic soundtrack ;) so I didn't get to Jeff's request, but happily I was able to locate most of the music...oh boy, my tummy is telling me to go and seek sustenance...adios!

06-14-03: It has not been a happy week.  Gregory Peck passed away.  Where does time go?  He is one of my favorite actors because I am captivated by the timbre of his voice...plus he is tall, dark, and very handsome on film.  To make things worse, I have managed to twist an unknown muscle in my back...even sneezing hurts....  Well, did you happen to be on the H-1 when there was the 8 car accident?  Unfortunately, I was and the commute was hindered by rubberneckers, so the drive into town was SSLLLOOOOOWWWW!!  There was a fire and cars were at a standstill...Ba Ba: Happy Father's Day! I will be making dumplings + plan on spending quality time eating and seeing my family for more than thirty minutes!

06-02-03: It's another week.  Summer is here because the sun is shining and I get sunburn just driving into town wishing I were languishing in the ocean and not in a sea of cars.  Hi Sasha!  I opened up my guestbook and was very happy to get an entry all the way from Virginia...wow.  Anyway, last night's show was pretty good.  You all seemed to really like the artists and ARIA had the most response...at least three calls asking what was on their radio. This opera inspired album was conceived by none other than Paul Schwartz.  He is also the producer of STATE OF GRACE...have I ever mentioned that I think he is a genius?  Okay, so I'm partial to his style and I also played a lot of tracks from the Putumayo compilations.  As always, let me know what it is that makes your world spin, so that I can get it on the air every Sunday!
