More Horses for Shania!- Hazel at Countrycool.com says Shania and her husband "Mutt" Lange bought several new horses for their Swiss Alps Estate. The couple took a recent vacation to Portugal where the singer discovered a new sport she really loves, Horse Ball. It's a cross between rugby, basketball and polo. All players ride horses and pass the basketball size ball with handles making it easier to catch. Goals are on either end of the court. The sport is also palyed in Britian where it is becoming a popular sport.

Instyle Magazine Sept. 2000 issue briefly mentions SHANIA in a section titled "Fashion Astrology" where the signs of various stars are analyzed to show the fashion style those stars choose.

Countrystars.com Aug. 31, 2000- Shania didn't know who Mutt was. Shania Twain says that her relationship with her producer/husband started over the phone when Mutt Lange had called her about taking her on as a client. And Shania swears she didn't realize she was talking to the hugely successful pop producer of folks like Michael Bolton and Bryan Adams. " I didn't know who Mutt Lange was," she told us. "I mean I never heard of that name before, I've never read the back of any rock albums and I don't have a lot of rock albums." Shania added, "It happened over the phone actually that I realized who he was. Because he referred to a song of BRYAN ADAMS' album 'Waking Up the Neighbors' and because we were kind of talking creatively over the phone and said, "Oh," "I said, can you hold on a second?" "I'm thinking Duhhh! BRYAN ADAMS! So I ran over to my record collection and pulled out-yeah, and his names all over it, writer, producer,all that stuff. I thought, Oh my god! I was so embarrased, you know. So I got on the phone and I go-and I think by this time he had realized I didn't know who he was, but here's me, trying to save face. Oh..yeah,yeah...I know exactlly what you mean..yeah, that was really good. And I'm talking like that,as if I knew the whole time, and I guess he just chuckled. I mean I'm sure I made a complete fool of myself. He let me, yeah, he didn't embarras me. Cause you know how embarrassing that can be!"

Mercury Nashville tells us what Shania's been up to this summer from Shania herself.
Summer Sports: "The sports I've been doing the most during the writing of the new album are hiking, swimming and horseback riding."
Her Dog: "Tim (my dog) is doing very well and is also enjoying his break from the road. He is 6 yrs old and full of energy. He loves to go hiking with us."
New Horses: "My newest horses are Chief- a red and white spotted Tennessee Walking Horse, Queeny- A Black Canadian Mounted Police Horse and Slick- A Chestnut American Saddlebred with a white blaze and four white socks."
New Look: "I've cropped my hair to just below shoulder length and added a few highlights for the summer. I've been going with very light, low maintenance make-up. For day wear I've been using a little concealer on any blotchy spots. I stain my lips with Revlon's Colorstay-Mauvey #14 then lightly coat my with "calm lip sheen". The eyeshadows I use most often lately are the "wet/dry shadow" Sandstorm and Coffee Bean".
Goals: " I am living in an area of Switzerland where French is the primary language. Living here, I've decided that I want and need to be able to communicate in it. I am in the process of learning French and hoping that I'll be able to hold a conversation in it before the year is out."

Shania Uninvited to Wedding Countrystars.com Oct. 9, 2000
We asked Shania last week about her recent trip back to Timmins,Ontario for her high school reunion and she told us that it was being uninvited to a friend's wedding that made her want to go to the reunion. "I was invited to a wedding of a friend of mine's in Canada. Then he called back and said, 'On the other hand maybe it's not such a good idea that you come. There are going to be 300 people at the wedding and was just going to be a distraction.' It wasn't going to be fun, I think (they thought) if I was going to be there, for the wedding couple," Shania explained. "I said, 'Okay then I won't come,' she said with some hurt in her voice at the couples rudeness.
Details: Shania didn't like how that felt and decided to do something about it. "I don't really like not being able to do certain things. I've always been the type of person that wanted to be as normal as possible. So, I said I'm not going to miss out on my high school reunion, I'm going back toTimmins, and I'm Doing it and whatever happens, happens."

Living near the French Alps, as she does, Shania has been busy learning French. She told us last week that she still didn't speak it very well, but she said it in perfect French. She claimed that husband Mutt Lange, who could barely say "oui" and "no" in French, has already become quite fluent, Also, Shania says living in Europe feels like Canada "There's a lot about Switzerland that reminds me of Canada. A lot about Europe that I sense, as a Canadian, that is very, very familar to me so I'm very at home and comfortable there," She says.

Billboard London: For the second year running, Zomba Music was named Publisher or the Year, and it's writer Robert John "Mutt" Lange was named Writer of the Year at the 20th annual ASCAP/Performing Right Society (PRS) Awards, held Oct. 18th at London's Grosvenor House Hotel, Lange was the most awarded writer for his song 'Come On Over' and 6 others recorded by his wife, Shania Twain. Lange was not present to receive his awards, which were picked up on his behalf by various members of the Zomba Music Staff, although Twain appeared on video to praise his songwriting.

Shania Twain has conquered the world of Country & Pop Music. Question is, What are her goals beyond that? "My professional goal, I would say has to be directed to the songwriting. So, if I can have successful songwriting years ahead then I can honestly say that I've achieved all of my career goals."

Shania won M6 Award on Friday at the 2000 M6 Awards in France, M6 is a French TV Station. Shania won the "Best International Female Vocalist Of The Year Award". She didn't attend the show but did record a message in French for the fans who voted for her: "Bonjour, je ne parle pas tres bien le francais, mais, j'aimerais le faire quand meme. Donc, heu excusez mes erreurs s'il vous plait. Je remercie M6 Awards, heu., ma maison de disque et tout, heu.., specialement les fans".

Q: Is it true that Shania Twain use to work for her father by cutting down trees before she became a country music singer? Shanna from Wellington KS.
A: Shania Twain's father ran a reforestation business, so they were more into planting new trees than cutting them down. When Shania was a teen, she tells us that she use to lead teams of Ojibway Indians into the Canadian Bush where they cleared out stumps of old growth and planted new trees. Shania learned how to handle a chain saw and she says, "I learned how to drive any kind of truck or bus. I even learned how to drive one of those big amphibious vehicles."

Shania's recent 18 million Certification of COME ON OVER makes her total album sales in the U.S. 30 million which has made her the only artist to average 10 million sales per album released in the U.S. Alanis Morresette & Britney Spears both came in 2nd with 2 albums totaling 19 million. And, it sold enough copies during 2000 to rank as the 3rd best-selling album of the year (only BREATHE #2 & FLY #1 sold more). Mercury Nashville Site reports that Shania's reached 31 million in U.S., not only has the COO Album been certified as having sold over 18 million copies in U.S., but her WIM Album is also reported as having been certified for 12 million in sales. Shania is featured in an article by the RIAA for sales achievements in 2000. A:Shania is currently in Switzerland recording a new album due out in late summer 2001. She will tour at some point to support that album, and she and Mutt Lange couldn't be happier together.

The Buzz for weeks has been Is Shania Pregnant or not? Well Thursday it has been made official, Samantha Johnson, publisist for Mercury Nashville Canada announced that Shania is indeed pregnant! She will probably not attend the opening of the Centre, as she may not be in condition to travel at that time. Although Shania Twain has not yet personnally confirmed that her baby is due sometime this summer around August, as has been reported, that the baby might be her only creation to be produced this year. Her studio album, originally scheduled for August, has been offically moved to sometime next year. And since her talked-about Christmas album is not on the 2001 release schedule either, it will likely bow next year as well.

Yahoo! Inc and Duet, an online music distribution Company backed by Sony Corp. and Vivendi Universal, a french media conglomerate, have joined forces to become the latest in a string of companies to offer paid music download services. The Duet service is expected to luanch this summer with streaming music and plans to add downloads shortly thereafter. Universal Artists include Shania Twain and Elton John, while Sony has Aerosmith and Ricky Martin.

Net4music, the global music technology company, have announced a deal with Zomba Music Publishing, the world's largest independent music company. Timmins Country Fanfest, a huge country music festival is headed for Timmins on July 14th, the largest country music festival in the nation!
